Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League are the two most anticipated fall 2017 movies accordion to Fandango, with Blade Runner 2049 not too far behind. The two superhero flicks from Marvel Studios and Warners Bros, which are both scheduled to arrive in November, took the number one and two spots in Fandango's survey, with the Blade Runner sequel (which opens in October) landing in third. And for those who are confused as to why Star Wars: The Last Jedi didn't land a spot: Fandango's survey only encompasses films that are arriving from September through to November this year.
Coming from established studios and being based on popular comic book properties, it's not exactly a surprise that Ragnarok and Justice League has taken the top 2 spots in the survey - as each offers something different for moviegoers, despite both being superhero flicks. The former is the third solo film to feature the God of Thunder (played by Chris Hemsworth). Among the movie's drawing points are Cate Blanchett as the villain Hela, as well as Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) making his first trip into the cosmic realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Justice League, by comparison, will bring together some of DC's biggest heroes - Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) - for the first time in the DC Extended Universe, following the tremendous success of Wonder Woman over the summer.

Fandango has ranked their users' most anticipated fall 2017 films in terms of both genre and overall. Ragnarok took the overall top spot, with Justice League landing second and Blade Runner 2049 (starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling) securing third place. Fourth and fifth places, meanwhile, went to this month's spy thriller sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle and this week's much buzzed-about Stephen King adaptation, IT, respectively. In terms of individual accolades, Ragnarok and Justice League also reigned supreme - as Fandango's most anticipated fall 2017 movie actor award went to Hemsworth, while the most anticipated actress prize went to Gadot.
The survey also got results for specific film genres, with the most anticipated fall 2017 comedy prize going to the sequel A Bad Moms Christmas and the title of most anticipated family movie being awarded to Disney/Pixar's animated Coco. Fellow comedy sequel Daddy's Home 2 (starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell) and this month's animated The LEGO Ninjago Movie took second place in those respective categories from Fandango's survey results.
Marvel Studio found success by releasing Thor: The Dark World in theaters in November of 2013 and then Doctor Strange in theaters in November of last year - further setting the stage for Ragnarok to become another hit MCU movie release for the studio. Justice League, by comparison, will mark the first time that Warner Bros has released a DCEU installment in theaters in the fall, with the previous four movies in the franchise having all released in either the spring or summertime.
