The Blu-ray/DVD release of Thor: Ragnarok will include a third appearance from Darryl (Daley Pearson), Thor’s roommate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe shorts, “Team Thor” and “Team Thor: Part 2.” However, this time Darryl will be hanging out with the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

For fans, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster was one of the many highlights of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok. Though based on a key villain from the comic books, the movie version of the character was written specifically for Goldblum. Ragnarok’s Grandmaster is a “pleasure-seeker” who likes to enjoy the finer things in life while watching gladiators fight to the death on the planet Sakaar. Thanks to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Grandmaster was able to acquire both the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to suit his entertainment needs.

It was reported in October that Goldblum had filmed a “Team Thor” short. Marvel has confirmed that the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of Thor: Ragnarok will feature a team-up of Darryl and the Grandmaster. With Thor trapped in outer space, Darryl is without a roommate and unable to pay the rent. After posting a notice asking for a new roommate, the only person to respond is the Grandmaster.

Thor and Darryl in MCU short Thor Ragnarok Thor: Ragnarok DVD/Blu ray Short Features The Grandmaster

Fans were first introduced to Darryl when the character appeared in a short that was included in the special features for the Blu-ray/DVD release of Captain America: Civil War. The short was meant to offer a rather humorous explanation for Thor’s absence in the conflict between Iron Man and Captain America. Apparently, Thor was never contacted by either Avenger. Thor was staying in Australia where he became roommates with an officer worker named Darryl.

The popularity of Captain America: Civil War‘s “Team Thor” short film led Marvel to produce a second short. Fans who purchased Doctor Strange on Blu-ray or Digital HD were able to see a continuation of Thor and Darryl’s shenanigans, including a scene where Thor insists that they use Asgardian currency to pay for the rent.

Though Thor is understandably busy and unavailable to appear in the third short, fans are sure to find plenty to enjoy in Darryl’s interactions with Grandmaster. As for what will bring the Grandmaster to Earth, it’s highly likely that the rebellion on Sakaar incited by Thor and Hulk has left Grandmaster without a place of residence.
