We still have a couple more months before Marvel fans will see Thor back in action on the big screen, but lucky fans in Toronto will have a chance to get an up close and personal look at the actual outfits used in the filming of Thor: Ragnarok. The Fan Expo event already started on August 31, but will be running over Labor Day weekend until September 3 in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre South Building.
Fans living in Canada, or who just happen to be there for a visit, will be able use this opportunity to see the outfits of new and returning characters to the franchise. The exhibit will feature the outfits of Valkyrie, the Grandmaster, Skurge, Hela, Loki, and Thor all set up on display. The outfits of the six characters were designed by the award-winning Mayes Rubeo, known for working on such films as Apocalypto, and Avatar. Unfortunately this does not include the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Cate Blanchett there to model the costumes for the crowd, but it’s the next best thing. And it will provide fans in attendance a great chance to learn more about the looks of new characters, like Blanchett’s villainous Hela.
If you were disappointed not to see the Hulk’s name among the outfits being showcased, Fan Expo has you covered with the other aspect of Thor: Ragnarok being displayed -- weapons from the movie. Valkyrie, Skurge, Thor, and the Hulk will all have their weapons on display for those who want a closer look at the armor, blades, and hammers that the characters will be wielding. So as fans ponder who will emerge triumphant in the gladiator battle between Thor and the Hulk, attendees will be able to make some more informed bets after getting a sneak peek at what the heroes will be armed with. Just don’t expect to have a chance at trying your hand at lifting Mjolnir.

It’s a rare thing to get such an intimate look at the kind of detail packed into movie costumes and weapons, so Toronto fans should be sure to take advantage if they can. Fan Expo is going to be the only place in Canada for fans to have this opportunity, and it won’t last long. Fortunately, the rest of us can still enjoy all the pictures coming out from the event.
Though everyone has their eyes on Avengers: Infinity War, there is still some time to go before we see the gigantic Marvel crossover. Thor: Ragnarok will be one of the final pit stops on Marvel’s course to the huge showdown, and it will finally answer what Thor and the Hulk have been up to following the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Both heroes were noticeably absent from the star-filled Captain America: Civil War, but that’s understandable given that Ragnarok is poised to be the destruction of Asgard.
