Thor is set to take on the Black Winter and step inside the universe-destroying threat. What he's about to find inside is more than just darkness and destruction, but the God of Thunder will encounter all of his greatest foes at the same time. But how is this possible and can Thor make it out alive?
Donny Cates and Nic Klein's run on Thor has seen the Avenger forced to team up with Galactus as his new Herald in an effort to stop the Black Winter from coming and destroying everything he cares about. With the void of the Black Winter coming for Asgard and intent on devouring the entire universe, the new King abandons his post. His closest friends, Beta Ray Bill and Lady Sif, have tried to stop him to no avail. In previews for Thor #5, the God of Thunder will step into the Black Winter and what he sees is nothing good.
In Thor #5, the titular hero ends up seemingly inside the Black Winter, which is like an M.C Esher painting. Thor hears a voice that tells him there's no way it can be defeated. However, when Thor charges up Mjolnir, he's thrown into a pillar. Bloodied, he looks up and sees Gorr the God Butcher. When Thor prepares to fight the previously deceased Gorr, he's attacked by an even more demented version of Loki. Thor recognizes that's not the real Loki and tries his best to take down Gorr. But, that's when literally Thor's rogue's gallery - Doctor Doom, Malekith, Gorr, Annihlus, Mephisto, Surtur, Juggernaut, Doctor Doom and more - shows up and prepares to kill him. "This is how you die," the Black Winter says as his enemies prepare for battle.
With the Black Winter closing in on Thor, he's going to be tough to take down all of the manifestations of his greatest foes. Can Thor make it out alive?
