The Mighty Thor Odinson has gone through quite a wide range of weapons during his run as Asgard and Earth's fearsome protector against the forces of evil. Thor's most trusted piece of equipment Mjolnir, a metal hammer forged by the dwarves of Nidavellir to contain a powerful cosmic storm, is only one in a handful of worthy accouterments which range from mystical battle axes to enchanted suits of armor.

Introduced alongside Thor in 1962's Journey Into Mystery#83 was the enchanted hammer Mjolnir. Protected by an enhancement that only Thor and a select number of others are worthy of accessing, Mjolnir is a force to be reckoned with in and of itself when utilized to its utmost potential. Since his Marvel Comics introduction, Thor and Mjolnir have been virtually inseparable, with good reason. As Mjolnir contains a sentient storm, the hammer is capable of granting Thor and other users the ability to manipulate the weather, project energy, fly, become invisible, control cosmic energy, and mastery of the art of matter manipulation.

An equally powerful yet bygone weapon that has been associated with Thor, even before becoming acquainted with Mjolnir, is the mystical battle axe Jarnbjorn or Iron Bear (in Old Norse). Like Mjolnir, Thor's Wrecker of Worlds Jarnbjorn is also a weapon forged by dwarves, but unlike the iconic hammer, Jarnbjorn acts as an indestructible axe with the ability to cut through many impenetrable defenses including Celestial armor. Thor previously used the might of Jarnbjorn to face off against ancient X-Men villain En Sabah Nur a.k.a. Apocalypse. Following the conflict with Apocalypse, Jarnbjorn would find itself in the grasp of several Marvel figures from Kang the Conqueror to The Apocalypse Twins Uriel and Eimin, prior to making its way back to the mightiest Avenger.

The Destroyer from Thor and Marvel Comics

Conceived by Thor's father Odin as a notable weapon to combat the god-like Celestials, the enchanted Destroyer armor would become a major asset for the mischievous Loki against his heroic half-brother and his companions. However, Loki is not the only Asgardian to steer the 9 ft. tall armor from its original purpose. With his physical body rendered useless, Thor seeks solace in the armor of his former threat. Using the Destroyer for righteous intentions rather than evil, Thor wore the enchanted suit of armor in a climactic battle against Loki's daughter Hela goddess of death, and the unearthly denizens of Hela's nightmarish domain of Hel.

Though not on the same level of intensity as a magic hammer or armor, Thor's enchanted belt of strength Megingjord enabled the god with additional power at the start of his superhero career. Even without the use of a hammer or belt, Thor has proven himself capable of having control over the weather on his lonesome. With an ambitious namesake that is the God of Thunder, Thor requires weapons suitable to that of a god.
