With the upcoming release of Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8, 2022, longtime MCU fans have a reason to relive the character's trilogy to this point. Thor arguably has the most interesting series of solo films in the franchise because the third entry is so different from the first two.

When Taika Waititi got in the director's chair, he brought a comedic flavor with him, and as a result, Thor: Ragnarok is possibly the funniest MCU movie. It is filled with hilarious lines that fans quote over and over and though the first films weren't nearly as funny, they had some comical lines of their own.

That's One Way To Say It

“Mewmew? What’s Mewmew?” - Darcy Lewis

Darcy was kind of a forgettable character in the first two Thor films but she really came into her own with a scene-stealing performance in WandaVision. However, she did have a few lines in her first appearances that managed to stand out.

Her sarcastic, sometimes dry humor was a welcome change of pace. The best was likely when she first heard the name of Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. She immediately pronounced it wrong (which she would continue to do) and this was so funny because it was done in passing without anyone really paying attention to her.

An Impressed Jane

“It’s A Good Look.” - Jane Foster

Sometimes, a line is funny not because of the content itself but because of the delivery. That's the case with this quote from Jane Foster. On its own, you wouldn't even chuckle at this but when you hear the way she says it, it'll trigger a laugh.

Jane says this after Thor becomes worthy of Mjölnir again. With the hammer comes his entire typical getup, prompting Jane to ask if this is how he normally looks. When he confirmed that it is, she had this line to say in a way that showed she clearly approved.

A Perfect Introduction For Korg

“You Don't Need To Be Afraid, Unless You're Made Of Scissors. Just A little Rock, Paper, Scissors Joke For You.” - Korg

Korg greets Thor for the first time in Thor: Ragnarok

One of the many things that helped Thor: Ragnarok be the funniest film in the series was the addition of Korg. The soft-spoken character doesn't match up to the imposing exterior he presents and it only took one line to expertly showcase that.

When Thor first runs into Korg, this is what Korg says. Since he's completely made up of rocks, he opened with a rock, paper, scissors joke, setting the tone for who he is as a character. Korg also later referenced that his revolution attempt ended when he didn't print enough pamphlets, showing that rocks indeed lose to paper.

The Grandmaster Annoys Thor

“Ass-Gard?” - The Grandmaster

When most people meet Thor, they are either impressed by him or straight-up intimidated. The Grandmaster was much different as he poked fun at Thor's "sparklers" and called him the "Lord of Thunder" in a mocking fashion.

Nearly everything the Grandmaster says in the film is a hoot but a line that truly stands out is when he finds out where Thor is from. As soon as he gets told it's Asgard, he responds with "Ass-Gard," again in a way that mocks the place. The eccentric villain wasn't shy about dissing Thor's homeworld for how it sounds.

Korg Doesn't Like Ghosts

“Piss Off Ghost! He's Freaking Gone." - Korg

Loki has a tendency to project himself into places where he's not physically at. It's a trick he has used more than any other in the MCU, having bested Thor with it on multiple occasions. In Thor: Ragnarok, he did it to have a conversation with his brother.

As soon as the conversation ended, Korg ran over and kicked at the illusion, calling Loki a ghost. The anger in his voice was clear and funny at the same time, with the calm follow-up of "He's freaking gone," being the icing on the cake.

A Legendary Meme Is Born

“Is He, Though?” - Thor

So many MCU fans have taken to making memes about their beloved characters over the years. Some heroes are easier to meme and more frequently the subject of them, with Thor ranking right near the top. His most famous meme is likely the one born from this line.

While talking to Bruce Banner on Sakaar, Thor tries to calm Banner's worries that he only wants the Hulk. When Banner suggests that he's powerful and useful like the Hulk, Thor's response of "Is he though?" is hilarious, especially when you add in the facial expression he delivers.

A Furious Loki

“I Have Been Falling For 30 Minutes!” - Loki

Ragnarok Loki I have been falling for thirty minutes

Loki is never one to shy away from delivering a quippy response that is bound to annoy everything around him. However, his funniest quote in these movies had nothing to do with him being a jerk and was instead his reaction to something that was done to him.

After arriving at the Sanctum Santorum, Loki was sent through a portal by Doctor Strange. He wasn't seen again while Thor and Strange had a conversation until Strange reopened the portal and Loki fell to the ground. He shouted his annoyance at what had been happening to him in hilarious fashion.

Thor Doesn't Get Earth's Customs

“This Drink, I Like It! Another!” - Thor

Thor throwing his cup to the floor

Most of the fun in the first Thor movie comes from the "fish out of water" storyline. Thor was used to life on Asgard and was unfamiliar with things on Earth. That led to him getting hit by cars and shouting his demands instead of simply asking.

While at a diner with Jane, Darcy, and Erik, Thor smashed his empty cup of coffee on the ground and shouted that he wanted another, leading to some funny reactions from those around him. Another great example of this came when Thor entered a pet shop shouting, "I need a horse!"

Not What The Grandmaster Was Expecting

“He’s A Friend From Work.” - Thor

Thor sees Hulk and cheers in Thor: Ragnarok

It has been played over and over thanks to appearing in the MCU trailer but there's no doubt that people loved the "He's a friend from work," line. It's especially something that works if you hadn't seen the trailer and first experienced it while watching the film.

The Grandmaster sets up Thor to face his champion, only for that to be revealed to be Hulk. Thor's excitement and this line get a great response from everyone around him and the idea that the two are work acquaintances with something like a 9-5 job makes it funnier.

Korg Asking About Thor's Relationship With Mjölnir

“Oh My God, The Hammer Pulled You Off?” - Korg

Korg talks to Thor

Hela destroying Mjölnir in the first act of Thor: Ragnarok not only displayed her power but also marked a major change for Thor. He relied so heavily on his hammer in the past that he'd have to change up his game plan going forward.

He tried to express to Korg what this loss meant but things were taken the wrong way. Thor explained that he flew with the hammer as he'd swing it and it would pull him off the ground, Korg quickly cut him off to ask a question that had the audience in stitches.
