Taika Waititi and co. are teasing a flamboyant and emotional story in a new Thor: Love and Thunder behind-the-scenes video and a powerful Zeus. The fictional deity based on the Greek god will be making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming sequel with Russell Crowe playing him. Alongside Crowe, Thor: Love and Thunder will mark the MCU debut of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, the villain of the film on a quest to rid the galaxy of all gods.

Thor: Love and Thunder will follow Chris Hemsworth's titular God of Thunder as he is forced to come out of his retirement and journey for inner peace when Gorr begins killing off gods. Thor will have to build a team to bring Gorr down, including Taika Waititi's Korg, Tessa Thompson's King Valkyrie and Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, who has become the Mighty Thor and is wielding a reconstructed Mjolnir. With anticipation already sky high for the MCU sequel, those behind Thor: Love and Thunder are looking to keep that bar raised ahead of the film's release.

With just a week remaining until its arrival, Marvel has released a Thor: Love and Thunder BTS video. The fun video offers a look at the hijinks from the set of the MCU sequel, as well as features a new look at Russell Crowe's Zeus wielding his powerful Thunderbolt. Check out the BTS video below:

Zeus' involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder has been a major point of interest amongst audiences, with most theories pointing towards Hemsworth's titular character approaching his fellow god to warn him of Gorr's arrival and even help prevent a similar demise. Many theories have also pointed towards Zeus either being killed by Bale's terrifying villain or at the very least being defeated in a fight by Thor, Jane and Valkyrie, especially as the latter can be seen in a variety of trailers wielding Zeus' Thunderbolt in her fight against Gorr. Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson has teased that while she may not get to use the Thunderbolt as much as she wanted, Crowe properly took to the time to wield the weapon and is "amazing with it" in the film, part of which can be seen in the Thor: Love and Thunder BTS video.

Many of the cast and crew's teases of what's to come from the film in the Thor: Love and Thunder BTS video largely falls in line with early reactions to the MCU sequel, which have praised Waititi's sense of humor doubling that of Thor: Ragnarok and Bale proving horrifying as Gorr. With anticipation high for the film, it will be interesting to see how it ultimately performs at the box office, with previous MCU title Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness having come just shy of the $1 billion mark and only just being dethroned as the highest-grossing film of the year by Top Gun: Maverick. Only time will tell when Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.
