The joyously colorful trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder actually harbored a sad Avengers: Infinity War detail. Taking place after an especially rough time for Thor, Thor: Love and Thunder sees the character return to a leading role in his own movie, going on a journey of self-discovery. The traumatic experiences of losing family, friends, and his home planet, seem to have taken a toll on him, and one detail in the trailer pays homage to a particularly sad moment from Infinity War.

In Infinity War, Thor lost not only his best friend Heimdall, but also his brother, Loki. The two had a tumultuous relationship from the start, with Loki as the villain in both Thor and The Avengers, but they eventually came to their own kind of reconciliation in Thor: Ragnarok after the destruction of Asgard. Their conflicting bond could be played for comedy, such as the hilarious ''get help'' scene, but it could also have some really heart-wrenching moments too, and by the end, there was no doubt that the two brothers do love each other.

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer features a scene of Thor staring out at the sunset, bathed in golden sunlight, which seems to be a reference to a heartbreaking detail from Infinity War. Loki feigns giving Thanos the tesseract in order to spare his brother, and as he does so, Loki looks at Thor and tells him, ''I assure you brother, the sun will shine on us again.'' Despite their past, Loki looks out for his brother where it really counts. Loki's death comes by the hand of Thanos when he tries to attack him, marking the last family member of Thor's to perish, and thus why the sun only shines on him in the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer.

Thor Love And Thunder Trailer Sun Shining On Thor

It's a small but nonetheless agonizing detail in the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. It acts as a reminder not only of Loki's quote, but of how much Thor has truly lost over the years, perhaps suffering in terms of grief more than any other MCU character. Thor and Loki's brotherly bond was never perfect, but the two seemed ready to make amends by the end of Ragnarok, which is definitely proven by Loki's Infinity War sacrifice. Further, the fact that Loki spoke in collective pronouns, using ''us,'' shows the strides he had made in terms of trying to right his past wrongs and give Thor the brother he had always wanted, sharing the light of the sun instead of trying to harness it all by himself.

Although Loki is still very much around (albeit, a different one) in his own show, his first absence in a Thor film still remains a very sad fact, made even worse by this detail. Loki's death in Infinity War is still a very harsh reality for Thor, and no doubt he thought of his brother whilst looking at the sun in the same way Loki looked at the thunderous storm in Loki. Loki may be physically absent from Thor: Love and Thunder, but this small Infinity War detail serves as a reminder of his character.
