With just over one month to go before its release, the first clip for Marvel's Thor: Love & Thunder has arrived. Set to debut exclusively in movie theaters in July, the highly anticipated film marks a first for the MCU, in that it is the first time a character will receive a fourth solo movie. Chris Hemsworth returns to play Thor in this new adventure, and he won't be the only iteration of the hammer-wielding character featured. Love & Thunder will also introduce Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, with Natalie Portman rejoining the MCU after sitting out 2017's Thor: Ragnarok.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love & Thunder picks up with the titular god after 2019's Avengers: Endgame. In a surprise turn, Thor has stepped away from heroics and opted to take on a more peaceful lifestyle following the devastation wrought by Thanos. However, the emergence of the bloodthirsty Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) disrupts Thor's new life, forcing him to get back into the superhero game. Thor: Love & Thunder also stars Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, and the bulk of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast.

The first meeting between Thor and Jane's Mighty Thor was teased in the initial Thor: Love & Thunder trailer, though the new clip offers some additional context. Thor is busy looking for his beloved hammer Mjolnir, which was famously destroyed by his sister Hela (Cate Blanchett) in Ragnarok. It remains to be seen exactly how Jane gets the repaired Mjolnir, but as is clear from the Love & Thunder clip, she will already know exactly how to wield it by the time she reunites with her ex. In the final moments of the video, Jane can be seen winding up Mjolnir just like Thor often does, hinting at her ease with the weapon.

While the promotional efforts for Thor: Love & Thunder have offered plenty of glimpses at Jane in her full Mighty Thor form, there is still much to be revealed about how she reached this point. It has been confirmed that the movie will at least partially adapt the Mighty Thor storyline from the comics, which involved Jane battling cancer as she comes into her new heroic persona. Nevertheless, it is clear that Jane's Mighty Thor will be a major part of Thor: Love & Thunder. Based on Thor's startled reaction to seeing her in the new clip, it looks like the movie will have a lot of fun reuniting these two powerful beings. It will be interesting to see what follows this charged first meeting when Thor: Love & Thunder arrives next month.
