Marvel Studios artist Andy Park teases Thor: Love and Thunder is "crazy wild." Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is back for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Chris Hemsworth reprising his MCU role as Thor Odinson. The sequel marks his eighth outing as the character since he debuted in Kenneth Branagh's Thor. The film will also see the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, who looks set to be become Lady Thor in the new film, while Christian Bale will play the film's villain, Gorr The God Butcher.

Andy Park is the Director of Visual Development for Marvel, having done concept and design work for the MCU since 2011's Thor. Park is responsible for helping to craft everything from costumes to vehicles to settings and more for the MCU, leaving his fingerprints on nearly every major project from the studio in some form or another. The artist has worked on MCU features, as well as the Disney+ shows, including Hawkeye, which is currently running on the streamer.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Park gave his take on what fans can expect from Thor: Love & Thunder in terms of the visual elements, stating the he's excited that he got to work with Waititi on the project, whom he says "shook up the whole franchise" on the new film. Park went on to say that the movie is "crazy wild" and that he "simply cannot wait for everyone to see it." However, Park also says that Waititi's shake up scared him a bit, making him wonder if they were "going too far" with the film. But, he states, that's part of Marvel Studios' history, which is to not "rest on their laurels and just do the expected." He explained, saying:

Exclusive: "There's a reason why there's been over a decade of successful movies and just why this franchise is growing. So Thor: Love and Thunder falls right into that where it's just pushing the boundaries of what's comfortable and what should be expected. You'll be surprised and push these characters and the visuals go along with that. I think [Waititi] said it in some interview where he's just like, he's surprised that he's even, he shouldn't be allowed to make a movie like this. And I get it. This movie is crazy wild. It's so much fun. And I simply cannot wait for everyone to see it. Because it was so much fun to work on and design so many characters and do keyframes for. It's going to be a good one. It's going to be fun."

Waititi is no stranger to shaking things up for the Thor franchise. His MCU directorial debut Thor: Ragnarok was a major shift in tone and style for the character, adding more humor, more action, and a complete redesign of The God of Thunder. The director had made a name for himself as a quirkly, stylish auteur, having crafted unique films like What We Do In The Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Jojo Rabbit, which netted him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Waititi has already completed his next film, Next Goal Wins with Michael Fassbender, and is set to begin work on an adaptation of Moebius and Jodorowsky's The Incal graphic novel.

Thor: Ragnarok was a welcome realignment of Thor in the MCU, although some fans felt it leaned a bit too far into the humor. However, it has continued to be considered a top tier Marvel film. It's the most lucrative of the Thor films to date as well, which have added $200 million to the final tally with each new film. If Thor: Love & Thunder follows suit, it could be the first of the franchise to crack a billion, but that's an uphill battle with theaters still trying to recreate pre-pandemic numbers. Still, with Love & Thunder not releasing until July, there's time to pick up steam and make an attempt to best the previous entries with its "crazy wild" approach.
