After the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer featured the Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn reveals he helped shape the Guardians' roles in the upcoming film. The official teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder finally dropped this week, building even more excitement for one of the most anticipated films of the year. Taika Waititi is returning to direct the fourth Thor installment which he described as a romance film. Also returning are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif.

Thor 4 will follow up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. In Endgame, Thor, who had fallen into a depression after failing to kill Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, left to travel with the Guardians of the Galaxy and appointed Valkyrie as the King of New Asgard. The recently released trailer for Love and Thunder shows Thor attempting to find inner peace and leaning on Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the other Guardians for help. This hint at the Guardians of the Galaxy's role in Thor: Love and Thunder made some curious whether Gunn had a hand in creating the upcoming Thor film's script.

This week, Gunn provided a small answer to this curiosity. While answering more fan questions on social media, Gunn revealed that he helped shape the Guardians' roles in Thor: Love and Thunder. In response to the question of how much influence Gunn had over Thor 4's script, the GOTG director/writer stated, "I asked for some things to be adjusted, and they were adjusted." Check out Gunn's full post below:

Gunn does not clarify how much he felt needed to be adjusted in Love and Thunder or whether it was dialogue or something else, but his quick response seems to imply that the adjustments were small. It may also be possible that the small adjustments were related to Gunn's two upcoming MCU projects, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Considering neither project is finished and GOTG3 is still finishing filming, Gunn may have needed to ensure that no small detail from the Guardians' roles in Thor: Love and Thunder contradicted what he had planned for his projects.

The MCU has made a reputation for itself with its connected films, so keeping characters consistent during crossovers is very important. This can be especially true when a character's story is still being made like Star-Lord's is in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3While he may never reveal what adjustments he requested, Gunn's answer assures fans that he and Waititi worked together to ensure that consistency in Thor: Love and Thunder.
