The MCU has hinted at many classic adventures of the mighty Thor, most recently in Thor: Love and Thunder. In 2011, Marvel Studios introduced a new dimension of superheroism by revealing that at least one of the ancient pantheons was real: the Asgardians. Initially, the MCU seemed undecided whether to consider them gods or simply ancient aliens, with Thor claiming to come from a realm where science and magic were one and the same thing. Marvel has become more confident as the years have passed, and now it's clear Thor and the Asgardians are numbered among many gods and pantheons in the MCU.

According to Korg in Thor: Love and Thunder, the Odinson was taken into battle by his mother Frigga when he was just a baby. Thor must have been recognizable for at least a thousand years, given he served as inspiration for the Norse legends — or, perhaps, they served to bestow him life, given how Moon Knight hinted faith is the power that drives the gods. Thor earned a reputation as a skilled and capable warrior, participating in countless battles and proving his heroism across the Nine Realms. And yet, for all that's the case, the Thor of legend is most certainly not the same hero seen in the MCU, for the Asgardian prince only learned his most important lesson in the first Thor movie.

In 2011's Thor, a reckless decision on the God of Thunder's part prompted Odin to banish Thor to Earth. This is why Thor, for all his age, should not be considered the oldest Avenger; he only became a true superhero due to his experience of humanity, during the events of his first solo feature. Still, Thor Odinson is known to have experienced a number of classic adventures within the MCU before he came crashing into the life of Dr. Jane Foster and learned some much-needed humility. The list includes stories from the official MCU movies, TV shows, and even a tie-in comic.

Loki Used The Casket Of Ancient Winters On The Young Thor

Loki uses the Casket of Ancient Winters against Thor

Marvel's What If...? episode 7 saw the Watcher — essentially an omniscient narrator in the MCU — introduce viewers to an alternate timeline where Thor was an only child. He contrasted this with the main MCU timeline, presenting some flashbacks to show Loki and Thor's historic relationship in the 616 universe. One beautiful piece of art showed a young Loki using the Casket of Ancient Winters in Odin's treasure vault, freezing his brother in place.

Loki Played A Snake Trick On Thor

Thor Ragnarok Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Thor Odinson and Loki Shady Acres Retirement Home Reunion

In Thor: Ragnarok Thor tells Bruce Banner about a historic trick Loki played upon him, where the trickster god shifted into the form of a snake, knowing Thor loves snakes. The Odinson picked the snake up to pet it, whereupon Loki turned back into human form and stabbed Thor. Apparently, such stabbings were a regular feature in the relationship between the siblings, and Thor accepted them as part of their relationship, clearly loving his brother and even honoring him with a Loki tattoo seen in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Loki Turned Thor Into A Frog

Throg wields Mjolnir in Marvel Comics.

Another line of dialogue in Thor: Ragnarok reveals that at one point Loki turned Thor into a frog, which he seems to have considered one of his best gags. Marvel's What If...? cut a Frog Thor scene, revealing that after turning Thor into a frog, Loki took the throne of Asgard for a laugh. Unfortunately for Loki, Thor was still able to beat him up with Mjolnir while in frog form. Loki season 1 revealed there was one alternate timeline in which Frog Thor was put in a jar and never turned back.

Thor Spent Time With The Eternal Kingo

Kingo showing off his movie posters in Eternals

Thor must have spent some time on Earth in the distant past, if only because he was so strongly connected with Asgardian mythology. In Eternals, Kingo reminisced about how "Thor used to follow me around when he was a little kid." Although Kingo has a habit of bragging and exaggerating, the other Eternals seemed to believe this one was true. It's difficult to say what exactly Kingo meant when he called Thor "a little kid" because he was being deliberately dismissive of the Avenger.

Loki Used A Smoke Veil To Save Thor When He Was In Over His Head

Thor with Loki whispering in his ear

Thor clashed with Loki on many occasions, but they were still brothers, and they fought together against mutual foes on numerous adventures. In Thor, the two remembered a battle in Nornheim in which the God of Thunder fought his way through a hundred warriors. "As I recall, I was the one who veiled us in smoke to ease our escape," Loki observed archly. It's interesting to note that, as powerful as he may be, Thor continues to depend upon allies even in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Loki Tricked Thor Into The Virtue Challenge

The Asgardian blacksmith Haldier

As recounted in an official MCU tie-in published by Marvel Comics and Burger King, Thor: The Mighty Avenger, Loki eavesdropped on the blacksmith Haldier and learned he had hidden an ancient Asgardian relic known as the Cup of Glory in a cave associated with a ritual called the Virtue Challenge. Loki tricked Thor into participating in this challenge so he could retrieve it. Unfortunately, the Cup of Glory brought out the worst in all the gods, including in Thor, whose vanity and pride led him to release a blast that leveled an entire mountain. Ultimately, Odin decided the Cup of Glory was too dangerous and chose to dispel its energy among the stars as a new constellation. Thor believed all the various heroes who participated in the Virtue Challenge had proved themselves by conquering their own darkness, but Loki sensed the truth, that his own darkness was yet to be faced.

Thor Won A Bet With Loki, Prompting Him To Become D.B. Cooper

Loki as DB Cooper in Loki Episode 1

Loki episode 1 revealed another classic adventure involving Thor and Loki, this time a rather amusing one. It seems Loki lost a bet with Thor, and in 1971 Loki played the part of D.B. Cooper in an infamous plane hijacking. As in the real world, Loki became a passenger on a Boeing 747 and claimed to have a bomb. He ultimately jumped out of the plane with a suitcase full of money and was plucked out of the sky by the Bifrost, with Heimdall and Thor watching the entire event. Amusingly, the D.B. Cooper incident suggests there may well be many historic events that were the result of Thor and Loki losing bets to one another in the MCU timeline — on Earth and other planets in the Nine Realms.

Thor Had Romances With Sailors & Wolf Women

Thor kisses a pirate woman in Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder featured an introductory monologue by Korg, in which the Kronan recounted some of Thor's past adventures — with a focus on his romances prior to his relationship with Jane Foster. According to Korg, Thor once loved some sort of blue-haired pirate woman, and on another occasion, he made love to a wolf woman on top of a woman wolf. It's difficult to say how accurate these stories were, of course, given Korg may well have been embellishing the truth in Thor: Love and Thunder.
