Christian Bale reveals that his kids made sure he joined Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi reunite in the MCU five years after the success of their first collaboration in Thor: Ragnarok. In Thor: Love and Thunder, the Asgardian Prince moves forward from the events of the Infinity Saga and goes on a healing journey.

Unfortunately for the Avenger, living a quieter, more peaceful life won't last too long with the threat of Gorr the God Butcher looming. Bale's villain specifically targets gods after he suffers a personal tragedy he blames them for. Marvel Studios has been careful with revealing any specific detail about Thor: Love and Thunder's main villain, but the fact that he is played by Bale is more than enough to excite fans, knowing the actor's dedication to his craft and acting prowess. That being said, there was apparently a time when he almost turned down joining the MCU due to a scheduling conflict.

Speaking exclusively with Screen Rant while doing press for Thor: Love and Thunder, Bale talks about how he got involved in the MCU movie in the place. The actor reveals he was interested primarily because of the people he would be working with, and Waititi's pitch was really solid. However, there was a time that he almost passed it up due to a potential scheduling conflict, but his kids made sure that he took the MCU role. Read Bale's whole story below:

For me, it was Taika. I loved Thor Ragnarok, as did my family. We also all loved Jojo Rabbit, and then I had worked with Natalie and wanted to work with Tessa and with Chris. It comes down to that, really. I just went, "Great!" Loved the script, loved Taika's description of the villain. "Let's go do this."

There were some potential scheduling conflicts. I said to my family, "I don't think it's going to work out," and they went, "No, you make it work out. You're doing this, Dad." They gave me my marching orders, and I dutifully obeyed.

Christian Bale as Gorr in Thor Love and Thunder

Bale is no stranger to comic book movies. He played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, first portraying the iconic DC character before the MCU had even started. In fact, his second outing as the Caped Crusader in the critically acclaimed The Dark Knight took place in 2008, the same year Marvel Studios' franchise launched with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jon Favreau's Iron Man. This is his first foray into the Marvel world, however, and it's interesting that his kids sounded so much more invested in it than he is, at least based on this story.

In any case, it does seem like jumping into the MCU and sorting out that potential scheduling conflict was all worth it. Aside from the fact that Bale's performance and Thor: Love and Thunder got rave reviews, his kids also made their way into the film, as revealed by Hemsworth. It has yet to be confirmed who they play, but it's safe to say that it must've been fun for them. Overall, it's a win-win for everyone involved, especially the fans.
