The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor joins The Hangover gang in a new piece of amusing crossover art. Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder has undergone quite a metamorphosis throughout his tenure in the MCU. When Thor appeared during Doctor Strange’s mid-credits scene drinking a magical pint, audiences got a taste of what Hemsworth’s character would become in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.

Following Thor: The Dark World, which is considered by many to be one of the weakest MCU films, it became clear that Thor needed an overhaul. Director Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok has become a fan-favorite entry thanks to its fresh, fun, and irreverent take on Thor—a characterization Hemsworth seems to thoroughly enjoy portraying. Now, Disney+’s animated anthology series, What If…?, has taken “funny Thor” to the next level by giving audiences “Party Thor.” Episode 7 of the series, “What If...Thor Were an Only Child?,” imagined a universe where Thor grew up without Loki and, therefore, became a quintessential “bro” who loves more than a few magical pints. The episode saw Hemsworth’s character party with a plethora of other extraterrestrials across the globe, leaving destruction in their wake, and scrambling to clean up the mess before Frigga checks in.

Digital artist César recently shared some art on Instagram imagining a variety of crossovers—from Harley Quinn and Cruella to Back to the Future and Loki. One of these crossover images sees Hemsworth’s Thor in one of those iconic elevator shots from The Hangover franchise trying to remember the events from the night before. Todd Phillips’ The Hangover (2009) is considered one of the greatest raunchy comedies ever made. It became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy in history, earning more than $400 million. The film famously follows Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Doug (Justin Bartha), who drive to Las Vegas for the latter’s bachelor party two days before the wedding. They wake up the next morning with no memory of the night before, and Doug is nowhere to be found. While The Hangover Part II and The Hangover Part III are good for a laugh, they’re nowhere near as iconic as the original movie.

What If…?’s season 1 finale, “What If...The Watcher Broke His Oath?,” made it clear that Party Thor loves Las Vegas courtesy of his now-signature battle cry: “Viva Las VEGAS!” It remains to be seen if the character will be seen in season 2 of the series or any live-action MCU projects. Unfortunately, the one crossover Party Thor will most certainly not be involved in is one concerning The Hangover. Fortunately, Hemsworth’s Thor is set to return in Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder on May 6, 2022.
