Warning! Spoilers ahead for Thor #22

The latest issue of Marvel Comics' Thor features the death of one of Marvel Universe's most powerful beings. Due to the King of Asgard's struggles with his rogue hammer becoming the dark God of Hammers, the Son of Odin and Odin himself joined forces to confront the God of Thunder's iconic and corrupted weapon. However, while the battle is ongoing, it's already taken a heavy toll.

In previous issues of Thor from Donny Cates and Nic KleinThor has taken his rightful place as Asgard's new ruler following the War of the Realms. With his father Odin having stepped down, the God of Thunder has been doing the best he can to lead in the All-Father's stead. However, he'd been struggling to lift his hammer ever since taking the throne, finally discovering in more recent issues that it was because it had been merged with the spirit of the Mangog after they were both flung into the sun by Jane Foster's Mighty Thor.

Now, Mjolnir and the Mangog have become the brutal God of Hammers, laying waste to the Ten Realms and prompting Thor and his father Odin to meet the threat head-on. However, Mjolnir grievously wounded and paralyzed the All-Father. As such, the new Thor #22 sees Odin revealing that he never fully gave up his power as Asgard's king, having kept some of the powerful Odinforce for himself. That being said, this new issue sees Thor's father finally relinquishing his full power to his son, a sacrificial move resulting in his death.

While Odin is no more in the Marvel Universe, he made sure to go with honor by giving his son his full power as the All-Father. Now, Thor has seemingly become more powerful than he's even been before, wearing golden armor and wielding a mighty sword (even giving the God of Hammers pause with sheer awe). Now that Thor has the full power of the Odinforce at his back (is it now Thorforce?), he'll likely be able to put a stop to his wayward hammer once and for all.

It will be interesting to see how Thor will be using his new power going forward as well as the fate of his currently rogue hammer. Either way, it seems as though fans can likely expect the King of Asgard to not rest until the God of Hammers is brought to justice and his father's death is avenged, even if that means destroying the hammer for good. Readers will just have to wait and see as Thor's ongoing series continues.
