Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for She-Hulk episode 3!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already setting up Valkyrie to have a huge role in Thor 5, and the events of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 3 indicate why. Tessa Thompson's character became New Asgard's king at the end of Avengers: Endgame after Thor decided to leave Earth behind. Valkyrie's new responsibilities gave her a prominent role in Thor: Love and Thunder, but the movie also showed the first glimpses of what life is like for New Asgard under her rule. Phase 4 continues to show that not all is well with how New Asgard is being run, which could give Valkyrie a challenging future.

Now located in Norway on Earth, New Asgard continues to change after Avengers: Endgame. It was revealed in Thor: Love and Thunder that New Asgard underwent significant renovations to make it even more of a tourist attraction. The overhaul was quite surprising for a group that was once one of the most powerful in the galaxy, but Valkyrie seemed to allow it nonetheless. She-Hulk episode 3 indicates that New Asgard is even more unruly. A shape-shifting Light Elf that resided there began stealing from people, while some Asgardian construction tools were converted into weapons for the Wrecking Crew.

Based on these recent events, it seems that Valkyrie's time as king of New Asgard is not going that well. This could be important for Thor 5's story, as Valkyrie's place as New Asgard's ruler could be challenged in some form. Marvel could explore storylines where someone else in Asgard attempts to overthrow King Valkyrie, possibly as a means to finally introduce Thor's brother Balder the Brave or even his uncle Cul Borson. Of course, there is also the chance that Valkyrie's fit as king will be challenged by those outside New Asgard, especially if people on Earth begin to feel as though New Asgard is creating more threats and problems for humanity. Either scenario would put Valkyrie in a central role for Thor 5.

Valkyrie’s Rule Could Mean Thor 5 Adapts Siege Comic Event

Marvel's Siege featuring Thor

There is now a potential roadmap for Thor 5 to be an adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' Siege comic event from 2010. The storyline followed Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers going to war with Asgard, which floated above Oklahoma, after orchestrating an event where the Asgardian warrior Volstagg was responsible for blowing up a football stadium filled with people. Marvel's Siege explored over four issues the view that Asgard did not belong on Earth, and Osborn led a charge against them when Thor and Loki were not around. Except for Norman Osborn, the MCU is perfectly positioned to pit New Asgard against a supervillain team in Thor 5.

Now that She-Hulk: Attorney At Law has provided additional examples of how New Asgard's presence could create dangerous scenarios for humans, Thor 5 could see Valkyrie put to the test of defending her kingdom from an outside threat. The Thunderbolts could replace the Dark Avengers in a Siege adaptation. There is even a way to tie in Thor: Love and Thunder's Hercules post-credits scene. The comics had Norman trick Ares into fighting against Asgard, but it is possible that the Thunderbolts could intercept Hercules' arrival on Earth and convince him to join their cause. Valkyrie having to defend New Asgard from Hercules and the Thunderbolts in Thor 5 would be the ultimate test of her fit to rule.
