Tom Hiddleston shares his thoughts on Matt Damon reprising his role as the fake Loki in Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Plot details regarding the fourth installment in the Chris Hemsworth-fronted series are still unknown. However, fans will see the return of Natalie Portman's astrophysicist Jane Foster and her transformation into the female iteration of the God of Thunder known as The Mighty Thor. Love and Thunder will also include the returns of co-writer/director Taika Waititi's Korg, Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster and the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the introduction to Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher.

Hiddleston made his MCU debut as Loki in 2011's Thor as an antagonist to his foster brother, seeking to claim the throne of Asgard upon learning of his bloodline. After also acting as the primary villain of the following year's The Avengers, the character has slowly transitioned into more of an antihero figure as he helps the group in their battle against Thanos as well as helping his brother in defeating his maniacal older sibling Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. While Hiddleston is returning to lead his own Disney+ series in this week's Loki, he isn't the only one reprising their role as the God of Mischief.

In an interview with Decider to discuss the forthcoming series, Hiddleston was asked about his thoughts of Damon returning as the fake Loki for the next Thor film. Noting he doesn't have any say on what Marvel does with the character, Hiddleston says he's all in for the Oscar winner to don the mantle once more. Read what Hiddleston had to say below:

"Well, I have no ownership as you know. [Laughs] Loki contains multitudes, and he contains Matt Damon. I was so amused on that—I can’t remember, it was a couple of days on Ragnarok when he came in and did his thing. It was like looking into a very slightly distorted mirror. And his take on the whole thing was just hilarious, so I can’t wait to see what they’ve been doing.”

To this day, Damon's surprise cameo alongside Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, and Charlotte Nicdao in Ragnarok remains as one of the funniest and most exciting elements of the threequel. Given it came about as a series of additional photography and reshoots on the film, it proved to be a real treat to fans and a testament to Waititi's comedic genius. The biggest question remains, though, just how will Damon's fake Loki fit into the story of the Thor4?

With Loki technically dead in the eyes of his brother after the events of Infinity War, Damon's acting character likely won't have been hired by Hiddleston's Loki, barring a secret cameo from the star in Thor: Love and Thunder. Even if that doesn't come to pass, however, the character's return alongside Neill and Luke Hemsworth is sure to make for another hilarious sequence when the film hits theaters in May. Plus, fans can at least look forward to Hiddleston's return when Loki debuts on Disney+ this week.
