New set photos from Thor: Love and Thunder's production in Australia tease the return of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie riding her Pegasus seen in Endgame. The fourth solo movie for Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder, Thor: Love and Thunder features a massive ensemble cast, bringing back Natalie Portman's Jane Foster (seen levitating in recent set photos), and featuring appearances from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Chris Pratt's Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thompson also returns after debuting as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.

Thompson also appeared in Avengers: Endgame, where it was revealed she'd been the de facto leader on New Asgard following Thor's depression. She took part in the climactic final battle, too, appearing on the back of a winged Pegasus. Thor names her the King of New Asgard at the movie's climax, leaving her officially in charge of the new settlement after running it for years. Posted by Thompson in February, a Thor: Love and Thunder set photo confirmed Valkyrie's return for the sequel, teasing that Thor hasn't seen the last of New Asgard, despite what he said at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Now, the latest set photos from Thor: Love and Thunder news on Twitter show off Thompson's return as Valkyrie atop the Pegasus she rode into battle on it Avengers: Endgame. Her look is different from when she was last seen, wearing her hair up and a flashy suit. The blue backdrop means the scene has a CGI background, hinting that this is perhaps taking place in Asgard, which has been rumored to somehow return in Thor: Love and Thunder. You can see the images below:

The photos are fascinating, especially for what Valkyrie is wearing. Is the suit a sign that she's let the trappings of being a King on Earth go to her head, or is she merely being as stylish as she can on her new planet? The Pegasus' return also hints that she hasn't given up her mantle as a warrior, which should be useful if she has to help Thor defeat Christian Bale's villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Whatever role Valkyrie ends up playing in the plot, she's going to be looking as sharp as possible while she does it.

The fact Thompson's still on set a month after first posting about filming is a good sign for fans of her character too. The Guardians of the Galaxy stars seem to have already wrapped, hinting their roles will be little more than cameos, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Valkyrie, proving her importance to Asgard in the MCU. Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to keep shooting for the new few months before its scheduled release date of May 6, 2022.
