Thor: Love and Thunder films inside ILM's StageCraft LED sets first used in Lucasfilm's The Mandalorian. Director Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth reunite for the God of Thunder's fourth solo movie after the success of their initial collaboration in Thor: Ragnarok. Production for the movie has been going on for a few months now after coronavirus significantly delayed its initial filming schedule.

Kicking off work in Australia back in January 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder continues its principal photography while more details about the project emerge. When it was first announced during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster were the only cast members announced. Since then, the film has essentially grown into an ensemble with several Guardians of the Galaxy members and Lady Sif involved. Christian Bale will play Gorr the God Butcher — the story's main antagonist and most recently, Russell Crowe announced that he's playing Zeus. Amidst all this, Waititi has been focused on production offering occasional updates.

The director's latest Instagram post reveals that work continues for Thor: Love and Thunder as his daughters visit him on the job. Waititi shared several snaps of them, revealing that filming for the movie has moved inside a StageCraft LED set. It's been previously revealed that ILM was building another stage similar to what was used in The Mandalorian in the Fox Studios Australia lot for the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster. Now, it appears as it being fully utilized. Check out the images below:

It's worth noting that like his involvement in the MCU, Waititi was also an actor and director for The Mandalorian season 1. He played the killer-turned-nurse droid IG-11, who sacrificed his life so that Din Djarin and Grogu can escape Moff Gideon's minions. He also directed the show's season 1 finale and while it's unknown how much of that episode was filmed inside "the Volume," having worked on the project allowed him to be privy with series creator Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni's whole filmmaker process. He now uses what he learned from The Mandalorian in Thor: Love and Thunder as seen in these new images.

Before moving inside the StageCraft LED set, the Marvel Studios film has also filmed outdoors. Several unofficial Thor: Love and Thunder images have emerged from its set over the last few months which includes the first look at Thor, as well as, pre-Mighty Thor Jane. Meanwhile, a massive cliffside practical set was built to mimic that of the original Asgard with its palatial columns. Chances are that the use of The Mandalorian's "the volume" will be for galactic scenes which will significantly make it easier to polish VFX shots during post-production.
