Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and star Mark Ruffalo joke about their possible involvement in a fourth series installment. Reviews are in, and it looks like Ragnarok will live up to fan expectations. Critics have praised the film as one of the more entertaining Marvel films, and it's expected to make a pretty penny at the box office. Waititi has received much of the credit for reinvigorating the Thor series, injecting his trademark humor and style into the Marvel machine.

The filmmaker's experience in the MCU was so great, he recently came out and said he would love to helm another Thor movie should the opportunity present itself. There are currently no plans for a Thor 4 in the cards, but with Ragnarok receiving overwhelming positive reactions so early ahead of its U.S. premiere, it's no wonder creators and fans alike are already eyeing another installment.

The first to address the elephant in the room is Ruffalo, who initiated the conversation on Twitter earlier today. Joking about having a private conversation, Ruffalo asks Waititi when they are announcing Thor 4, to which you can see Waititi's hilarious response below:

I think we are DM'ing right now. Just quietly, you left your undies in my panic room last night. (delete this message!) https://t.co/9uj6QSwVAn— Taika Waititi (@TaikaWaititi) October 26, 2017

Waititi's humor is surely the key ingredient in Ragnarok's success. After all, the film is the third installment in a singular franchise line of a traditionally less popular hero in an incredibly saturated Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the odds seemingly stacked against the film, Waititi has tapped into something golden: Chris Hemsworth's satirical sense of humor. As seen in the short, Team Thor, Waititi's directorial humor perfectly matches Hemsworth's, culminating in a hilarious holy grail of comedic gold. Fitting perfectly in Marvel's overall direction of humor and levity, Waititi and Hemsworth's cinematic marriage results in a much needed fresh approach in the age of box office superheroes.

Though of course Waititi's response to Ruffalo is no where near a confirmation on a 4th Thor film, it gives fans hope that it is only a matter of time before one is officially announced. With the superhero sphere seemingly no where near the end of its era, its seems like the funny and psychedelic styles of Guardians of the Galaxy and Ragnarok might be a strong direction for future fan-pleasing films. For now, we will just have to be patient and wait. Meanwhile, the cast and crew are responding with what we love them for the most; humor.
