Following the release of the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel Studios is celebrating the massive fan response. Since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, Phase 4 has gone in multiple directions, exploring newer characters while fleshing out some of the more established players. With the existence of Disney+, Marvel Studios has an additional platform to expand the MCU upon. As much as the MCU is exploring new territory, they are also continuing the story for some of the remaining original Avengers.

In this case, that includes Thor, as the God of Thunder is set to be the first Avenger from the original Phase 1 team to get a fourth solo film. With Taika Waititi back as the director for Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth installment follows Chris Hemsworth's titular character after the game-changing fallout from Avengers: Endgame. While Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie is the King of New Asgard, Thor goes on a journey to find who he is without the throne. Given that the film is set to arrive in July, patient fans finally got to see the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder this week.

Like many trailers for past Marvel Studios movies, Thor: Love and Thunder received a huge response. In the first 24 hours after its release, it garnered 209 million views. To celebrate that massive accomplishment, the official Twitter account for Marvel Studios took a moment to thank fans. Not only did they use it as a fun opportunity to reference Thor's "Strongest Avenger" phrase, but they highlighted one of the biggest scenes from the trailer with the hero getting back into shape.

It's still unclear why Marvel Studios waited until this week to debut the first look at Thor: Love and Thunder. Prior to the footage getting released, there had been multiple leaks of upcoming merchandise for the fourth Thor film. Some of that included an early look at Christian Bale's Marvel villain, Gorr the God Butcher, as well as Natalie Portman's Jane Foster becoming Mighty Thor. Once Hemsworth, Thompson, and Waititi had shared on social media that press had begun for Thor: Love and Thunder, it strongly suggested that a first trailer was finally getting ready to drop.

While it had already been made clear, Thor: Love and Thunder's first trailer further confirmed just how different this new installment will be, especially after Thor: Ragnarok. Including Valkyrie's huge arc, Jane's evolution into Mighty Thor, Hemsworth's Avenger is also joining forces again with the Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be intriguing to see what their dynamic is like this time around. It's about to be a packed summer for Marvel Studios since Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is arriving next month. Given the short window between the two films, there is likely to be at least one more trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder before it finally airs in theaters.
