Thor: Love and Thunder will feature the strongest version of Thor, Chris Hemsworth reveals. On the heels of the Infinity Saga where some of the MCU's founding heroes officially retired from their superhero gigs, the God of Thunder is set for a brand new adventure. Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor is the first, and currently only hero to be awarded a fourth standalone film.

Announced during Marvel Studios' SDCC 2019 panel, Thor: Love and Thunder will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and feature the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster in the MCU. Waititi confirmed that the movie will see the character assume the superhero persona as Mighty Thor. Since then, the film's cast has expanded with certain members of the Guardians of the Galaxy set to appear. Meanwhile, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, and Zeus, portrayed by Russell Crowe, are both set to debut via the solo film. Interestingly, however, not much is known regarding Thor's actual arc in the movie. But whatever it may be, Hemsworth claims that the character will be at his strongest in it.

Taking it to his official Instagram, the actor shared a brand new workout video and while the clip in itself does not reveal anything about Thor: Love and Thunder, it's the caption that's currently drawing attention. Hemsworth wrote that not only will he be his fittest playing the character in the film, the God of Thunder, too, will be the strongest he's been in the Waititi-helmed project. Check out his full post below:

Physically, Hemsworth has been notably bigger while filming Thor: Love and Thunder as seen in both official and unofficial set images. Previously, the actor mentioned that he had been at his fittest in his years playing the character, but this is the first time that he's explicitly said that his real-life physicality will factor in the movie's narrative. This is a significant change for the God of Thunder as the last time he's on-screen, he's still carrying the extra weight he gained in the five years between Thanos' snap and defeat in Endgame. It's curious if Thor: Love and Thunder will show his transformation from Fat Thor to the character's current physical state. But, this is crucial in making sure that the controversial creative decision to change his appearance in the Infinity Saga-capper wasn't just for cheap laughs.

More than his aesthetic, however, what's more important to move Thor's character forward is to address his mental state. Following the string of personal losses over the years, ending with his catastrophic mistake to stop Thanos in Infinity War, the hero suffered an emotional breakdown and did nothing to address it for years. Defeating Thanos and focusing on his physicality won't be enough, unfortunately. Ignoring the root cause of his problems in Thor: Love and Thunder is only setting himself up for worse problems later on.
