Thor: Love and Thunder will have more emotions than Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi reveals. Chris Hemsworth is teaming up again with the filmmaker for a second time following the success of the God of Thunder's 2017 threequel. This makes him the only MCU hero to get a fourth standalone movie which is very exciting.

Ragnarok drastically changed Thor in the MCU. Aside from the aesthetic difference compared to its predecessor, the threequel also made the God of Thunder more fun and humorous. His experience in the film set up his eventual arc in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. With the Infinity Saga finished, he is embarking on a brand new adventure, presumably with the Guardians of the Galaxy since he joined them after Thanos was defeated. But, somehow, he'll find his way back into Asgard as he fights a brand new threat in Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. Thor: Love and Thunder will also see the return of Jane Foster in the franchise to become Mighty Thor.

While Waititi can't get into plot specifics about the upcoming Marvel Studios film when he spoke to Empire (via Digital Spy), the filmmaker revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder will have more emotions than Ragnarok. He also cited Hemsworth's massive physique as the titular hero in the movie. Finally, Waititi highlighted the level of talent that the project has, with four Oscar-winners in its ensemble.

"It's very different from Ragnarok. It's crazier. I'll tell you what's different. There'll be far more emotion in this film.

"And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you've seen the photos."

"We've got five Oscar-winners in [Love and Thunder]. And I'm including myself in that list. Me, Matt Damon, Russell [Crowe], Christian [Bale], Natalie [Portman]."

Before Thor: Love and Thunder even kicked off production, it was reported that Marvel Studios was assembling an Avengers 5-type of cast for the movie. Looking at who's confirmed for the flick, that's about right. Aside from the string of new characters that will be played by Bale and Crowe, there are also the Guardians of the Galaxy crew who will also be appearing in the project. It's curious how Waititi is able to balance the screentime for everyone involved in it without losing sight of the fact that it's Thor's film. But, considering what he was able to achieve with Ragnarok, many are confident that he can pull it off.

As for Waititi's comment about Thor: Love and Thunder being more emotional, this might be good news for those who found Thor: Ragnarok a tad too humorous. The 2017 film featured some of the biggest tragedies in the God of Thunder's life with the death of Odin and the destruction of Asgard, but given its fast pace, it wasn't able to pause and let these moments really sink in. The filmmaker may also be referring to Jane's cancer storyline that is believed to factor in the upcoming MCU movie.
