Lady Sif is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Jaimie Alexander reprising her role for Thor: Love and Thunder, and possibly Loki as well. Alexander joined the MCU as the formidable Asgardian warrior and possible love interest for Chris Hemsworth's god of thunder in 2011's Thor. She returned for the sequel but was noticeably absent from Thor: Ragnarok and the next two Avengers films. This left many fans wondering what happened to the character and hoping Thor 4 could provide answers.

As Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder has come together, there wasn't any confirmation that this would happen. The fourth Thor movie instead turned its focus toward continuing Thor's story, with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) returning, and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) set to become Mighty Thor. The cast also includes Christian Bale as the main villain Gorr the God Butcher, and will also see Korg and Meik join the adventure. We also know that Chris Pratt is back as Star-Lord and other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy might appear too. Now the day after Marvel Studios confirmed details about Thor: Love and Thunder, Lady Sif is on her way back.

According to a report from Deadline, Jaimie Alexander is now set to play Lady Sif again in Thor: Love and Thunder. Production will begin in early 2021 for the film, which is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2022. Although Sif's role in Thor 4 was not revealed, the wait to see her might not extend all the way to 2022. The report notes some sources told Deadline that Alexander might have a "guest spot" appearance in Tom Hiddleston's Loki Disney+ show coming out in May 2021.

Lady Sif in the midst of the battle in Thor: The Dark World

By the time Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters, it will have been eight years since Lady Sif was seen on the big screen. But, the character did have a few short stints on Agents of SHIELD during its first two seasons. Sif's last appearance came in 2015 and some thought her role in the Marvel TV production was one of the reasons she hadn't returned in the movies. Alexander was originally asked to come back for Thor: Ragnarok, but her schedule with NBC's Blindspot couldn't make it work. That was probably a blessing in disguise, though, since the other members of the Warrior's Three all died early on in the movie.

Now that Lady Sif is returning in Thor 4 and possibly Loki, it will be fascinating to learn where she has been for the last decade in the MCU. There haven't been any hints about what she was up to, although Agents of SHIELD showed that she was on missions for Odin (who was actually Loki at the time). It's possible the god of mischief is to blame for Sif's lack of screentime. Some fans are hoping her long-awaited return will also mark the debut of Beta Ray Bill, while Alexander has expressed interest in Sif becoming the queen for Valkyrie. We won't know for sure what Thor: Love and Thunder will do with Lady Sif for some time, but at least we now know that she is coming back to the MCU.
