A new Thor: Love & Thunder behind-the-scenes video shows Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi enjoying a goofy moment during their downtime. The upcoming film will be Hemsworth's fourth solo outing as the God of Thunder, a role he's played since 2011. Waititi, who also directed Thor: Ragnarok, returns to helm the new sequel. While details about the upcoming movie remain slim, it will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Thor was last seen leaving New Asgard to join the Guardians' space adventures. The movie will likely see the hammer-wielding superhero return to Earth amid an urgent conflict.

Thor: Love and Thunder will see Tessa Thompson reprise her role as Valkyrie along with other actors from Guardians of the Galaxy including Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, and Vin Diesel. Natalie Portman, who played Hemsworth's love interest in the first two Thor movies, will return as Jane Foster. Thor: Love and Thunder began filming in Australia early this year after being delayed by pandemic restrictions. By June, Waititi confirmed that the production has wrapped up. The movie is set to be released in May 2022 as part of MCU's Phase 4 slate.

Early this week, Hemsworth posted a throwback video on Instagram showing a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder. In the clip, the actor can be seen sitting in his makeup chair as a stylist preps his blonde wig to get him in character. Waititi stole the show as he goofed around to disturb the poor hairdresser. Hemsworth and Waititi then burst out to sing David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes," botching the lyrics as they went along. Hemsworth shared the video as a tribute to his director, who celebrated his 46th birthday this week. "Happy birthday, Taika Waititi," the actor wrote in the caption. "Not only a brilliant director but also super helpful with vocal warmups and hair and makeup assistance, truly a man of many talents." It was his direct response to the director's post when he trolled the actor on his birthday August 11, sharing a picture of Hemsworth wearing the same blonde wig.
