Thor's crossover with the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor: Love and Thunder is confirmed, as Chris Pratt will return as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. One of the many great moments to come out of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame was Thor and the Guardians' interactions. The cosmic team found Chris Hemsworth's god of thunder after Thanos wiped out the Asgardian fleet, and the back and forth between Thor and Star-Lord was an instant highlight. Thor went on to team up with Rocket and Groot in Infinity War but jettisoned Earth with the entire team at the end of Endgame.

Ever since that ending, fans have remained hopeful that Thor and the Guardians will interact again in the MCU sooner than later. Vin Diesel seemed to let the crossover slip when he mentioned that some of the Guardians could appear in Thor 4. Marvel didn't confirm that this was true at the time, but it raised the question about which Guardians member could potentially pop up. While Rocket and Groot were considered likely, we now know that Star-Lord will be there.

According to THR, Chris Pratt is set to appear as Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Hemsworth's Thor. It isn't clear how big of a role Star-Lord will have, but Pratt will join the production when filming begins in Australia in early 2021. THR also teases that other Guardians (and even Avengers) could pop up in Thor 4 too. This will be Pratt's fifth appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor and Star-Lord face up in Avengers Infinity War

Star-Lord's appearance in Thor 4 makes perfect sense considering he and Thor were together aboard the Benatar the last time we saw them. The two of them were trying to prove which one was in charge, with Thor assuring Star-Lord that he's in charge of his ship. It remains to be seen how big of a role Star-Lord will play. Although, it seems more likely that it will be a small role that sees Thor leave the Guardians to go on his journey for Thor 4 while simultaneously allowing the Guardians to go on their own mission for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

No matter how big or small Star-Lord's role in Thor 4 proves to be, it is one that will surely make audiences happy. The comedic chemistry between Hemsworth and Pratt is undeniable, and knowing that they'll square off again under Taika Waititi's direction will only raise expectations. But, fans should try to keep expectations in check, as Thor 4 has a lot more to deal with than Star-Lord. The film is transforming Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) into Mighty Thor, bringing back Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and has Christian Bale playing a mysterious character. Star-Lord will likely only play a small part in Thor: Love and Thunder's story, but hopefully, the Asgardians of the Galaxy will crossover again in the future.
