Thor: Love and Thunder star Natalie Portman reacts to Chris Hemsworth's viral image training for the film. Officially announced during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the film will bring back Taika Waititi behind the camera after the success of Thor: Ragnarok. Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, is also confirmed to return, while Portman marks her MCU return since Thor: The Dark World in the film.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Marvel Studios had to push back their full Phase 4 slate as production was halted earlier this year for health and safety reasons. After months in limbo, however, Love and Thunder is finally set to begin production in Australia this January. While the cast awaits for work to kickstart, Hemsworth is making sure that he's in tiptop shape when he reprises the role of the God of Thunder, sharing an image of himself during a workout session which highlights his massive shoulder muscles. The snap quickly became viral, with people online mainly baffled at the sheer size of the actor.

When asked about her reaction to the said image during a guest stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Portman is just as mystified as everyone else looking at Hemsworth's image. Since she's also set to assume a superhero persona in Love and Thunder as Mighty Thor, the actress ended her reaction by saying that she's going to look like a grandma beside her co-star.

"It's otherworldly. I feel like I'm so unversed in what muscles do and how they get like that. I was like, 'Does the blood drain out of you when you use your muscles?' Because it looks so white, doesn't it? I feel like it's a T-shirt tan, right? Is that what's happening?"

"Oh, Chris, we got to get you some spray tan. We got to help with the muscle pictures."

"He's looking good. It's a lot of pressure. I'm gonna look like his little grandma next to him."

Chris Hemsworth Thor Ragnarok Fat Thor Avengers endgame

Before Portman, Chris Pratt already spoke up about Hemsworth's image, hilariously begging his co-star to stop working out so he doesn't look bad sharing the screen with him. Aside from the hilarity of the comment, it also effectively confirmed that Star-Lord will be in Love and Thunder. Meanwhile, Christian Bale and Idris Elba are reportedly also going to star in Thor 4 which will supposedly feature an Avengers-style ensemble cast. As production nears, it's safe to say that more information regarding the project will be announced.

Hemsworth does look significantly larger this time as he gears up for another Marvel outing in Thor: Love and Thunder. It's curious if this is an intentional decision as part of his arc in the film or it's simply the actor wanting to bulk. In any case, this hints that Avengers: Endgame's Fat Thor will not be returning on the big screen via the Waititi-directed movie. The question with that is how Marvel Studios will address this change in Thor's physique because they have to, otherwise, they're going to prove critics right who accuse them of using the character's weight gain for cheap laughs.
