Thor 3 Director Hangs with Avengers 3 Directors on Infinity War Set

Over the next two years, the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get quite the spotlight. In just a few months, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will follow the heroes from 2014's hit film as they do what they do best. From there, the team will have a key role to play in next year's epic Avengers: Infinity War. Even more than Guardians, however, this fall's Thor: Ragnarok will help to redefine the MCU and tee things up for the big battle against Thanos. Both Ragnarok and Infinity War will feature a number of fun team-ups, with the former even pitting Thor and Hulk against each other as gladiators.

Eventually, Thor and Hulk will smooth things over and move to take on the threat of Hela. They'll be joined by new hero Valkyrie, who likely has a future as an Avenger if the comics are any indication. We know Tessa Thompson will be reprising Valkyrie for Infinity War, so she'll likely get to prove her mettle to the other heroes in combat. Both films are being met with a lot of anticipation, given the vision's of their respective helmers. Taikia Waititi will bring his idiosyncratic style to Ragnarok, while the Russo Brothers will attempt to carry their success from The Winter Soldier and Civil War over to a full-on Avengers movie.

Given so many Thor characters are likely to show up in Infinity War, it's safe to assume that Waititi will have some sort of input into the film. If nothing else, we know he'll be given an early look at the making of the film thanks to a pair of tweets he sent out earlier today. As is Waititi's way, the tweets don't take things too seriously either, as he both misspells the Russo's names and the title of the film they're working on. And adding to the comedy is the fact that one of the people in the photos is actually Marvel producer Louis D'Esposito, not Anthony's brother Joe.

Hanging with the Rossi Brothers on set. You can't tell them apart! #AvengersInfiniteWar

Correction... The Rousseau Brothers. My bad! Can't wait for Avenger Infanty War!

Given Waititi is directing another Marvel film, it's not too unusual that he would stop by the set. Still, we know the Russos look to other filmmakers when crafting their stories. Before Ant-Man showed up in Civil War, they made sure to speak with Peyton Reed about the arc and motivations of the character. They're likely doing the same with Waititi, especially given how much we've heard Ragnarok will inform Infinity War.

Meanwhile, the next Avengers film is spreading itself all over the globe. The above tweets are likely on the set in Atlanta, GA where most Marvel movies shoot nowadays, but plenty of things will be filmed on location as well. New York will serve as a backdrop in the film and Scotland looks to factor heavily into the movie too. A number of Avengers actors have been popping up in Scotland recently, including Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch). With Avengers: Infinity War shooting, we're likely to learn a lot more soon. As for Thor: Ragnarok, we're bound to get a trailer for the upcoming movie in the foreseeable future.
