Kenneth Branagh's Thor, which first introduced Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse god and Tom Hiddleston as his scheming brother Loki, featured battles in several locations across the Nine Realms, including the icy plains of Jotenheim and a fight on our own home turf. In the upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World, the war that Thor, Loki and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) find themselves caught up in is one where the stakes include the fate of every world in the Nine Realms. No pressure, guys.
A featurette for Thor: The Dark World has just been released, providing a recap of who the key players are and what happened at the end of The Avengers (for the three people out there who haven't seen it yet), which means that there's some older footage at the very beginning of the video. Later, however, there's some new footage from Thor 2 including a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Thor wearing his helmet, and a longer clip of Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) picking his mask up off the ground.
We've already seen some dramatic posters of Thor and Loki, whose dynamic was a strong aspect of both Thor and The Avengers, but two new international posters for Thor: The Dark World give the spotlight to a couple of other major players in the battle to for the universe.

Heimdall (Idris Elba) was a strong and intimidating presence in Thor and it doesn't look like he's going to be slacking off in Thor: The Dark World. Between his "You shall not pass" expression and his horned armor, Heimdall remains the formidable doorman that Asgard needs to keep the bad guys out.
The lead bad guy, Malekith, is shown in the second poster with his mask in hand and an army of Dark Elves following in his wake, all finished off with an enormous and ominous-looking black spaceship behind them. Malekith has been a little underplayed so far in the trailers for Thor: The Dark World - most likely because Thor and Loki are considered the major selling points - but if anything the lack of exposition about his character and plans will only make it all the more interesting to see what kind of threat he presents in the movie.
With all these different posters being released, are there any supporting characters from Thor: The Dark World who you hope are going to get a character poster of their own?
Thor: The Dark World is out in theaters on November 8th, 2013.
