This Is Us Season 4 Premiere Date Revealed; New Poster Promises More Surprises

This Is Us Season 4 SR

This Is Us season 4's premiere date is finally announced via a new poster teasing more surprises for the Pearson clan. NBC's heartwarming comedy/drama is gearing up for the final half of its overall story with three more seasons locked. Following its two-season order shortly after it debuted back in 2016, it was awarded a rare three-year renewal, confirming that the show will run at least until 2021.

Season 3 ended on some sort of a cliffhanger, bringing the show into the future with a significant flash forward. This Is Us didn't explicitly state what year it is set in, but everyone looks older - with Tess already a grown-up woman. It answered recurring questions posed throughout the year including whether or not Randall (Sterling K. Brown) or Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) will stay together (they do), and if Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) son, baby Jack survives (he does). However, the main takeaway from the scene was the reveal of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) seemingly during her final days, with Nicky (Griffin Dunne) apparently sticking with Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) family despite his initial cold hostility toward them.

After months of waiting for fresh episodes of This Is Us, NBC finally sets its season 4 premiere on September 24, which means it retains its Tuesday night time slot. The announcement came alongside a new poster with the Pearson clan, but what's more interesting is its tagline: "If you know what's coming next...you don't know us." Considering its impressive performance during its typical day and time slot, it's not surprising that NBC decides to keep This Is Us during Tuesdays. And from the looks of it, they're leaning on the upcoming plot twist supposedly being revealed at the end of the first season 4 episode. According to Moore, this upcoming surprise will rival the reveal from the show's premiere three years ago. Ventimiglia, on the other hand, teases the world expanding for the Pearsons. At this point, it's unclear if those two are related with each other, nevertheless, fans can't wait to find out what's next for the beloved family.

All that beings said, don't expect the series to dive back into the future. This Is Us season 4 premiere will bring viewers back to the 1970s, in the aftermath of Jack and Rebecca's spontaneous Los Angeles road trip. By the time they get back home, it seems like the two will be be more than certain that they want to stay together. The first season of the show only showed them during their wedding and then they're happy married life after, but no one from either families were present during the ceremony. Considering the timeline, that's more likely going to be a central plot at least in the first half of the season.
