The new trailer for This Is Us season 4 is here, and it introduces fans to a string of new characters that'll make an impact in the lives of the Pearson family. NBC's hit family comedy/drama won't be back with fresh episodes until later this month, but fans won't have to wait that long to see what lies ahead for the beloved family thanks to the show's latest sneak peek. Released in time for the Big Three and Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) birthday, the snippet unveils a bigger cast joining the series' main players.

Ending season 3 with a bit of a cliffhanger, the public has an idea of what the future looks like for some of the remaining Pearsons - Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) stay together following a rocky period in their relationship; Kevin (Justin Hartley) gets a son (with an unknown mother); baby Jack grows up; and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) gets to live longer. That said, the flash forward sequence that wrapped up last season of This Is Us has also posed a few questions, including the future whereabouts of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and the real deal on what seems like Rebecca's disintegrating health, not to mention the involvement of Nicky (Griffin Dunne).

Fans will have to wait, however, to have those questions answered, as This Is Us season 4 won't be visiting the future anytime soon. Instead, it'll go back in time to Rebecca and Jack's early courtship days, and if the new trailer is any indication, the show will explore more connections for the Pearsons. Expanding the shows scope are new actors joining the critically-acclaimed drama, such as Asante Blackk, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Omar Epps, Bahara Golestani, Jennifer Morrison, Timothy Omundson, M. Night Shyamalan, Julian Silva, Auden Thornton and Nick Wechsler. Watch the trailer below.

Both creator Dan Fogelman and Ventimiglia teased about the world of Pearsons growing bigger in This Is Us season 4 on separate occasions, and that's exactly what the new trailer is hinting at, with a flurry of new faces that'll be introduced. The trailer gave very little in regard to how these upcoming characters will factor into the show's future narrative. But with Moore revealing that a plot twist comparable to the show's pilot is coming by the end of season 4's premiere episode, it shouldn't come as a surprise that an unexpected connection between a Pearson family member and anyone from these upcoming characters will be revealed.

As many as these new players are, fans are hoping that the central focus will still be on the Pearsons - after all, this is their story. Season 4 will mark  the start of the narrative's latter half, with the spotlight shifting from Jack to Rebecca, potentially leading to the flash forward scene which revealed her seemingly on her death bed. However, just like how This Is Us played Jack's death, chances are that it'll dance around that specific plot point for a while, catering to other stories in the meantime.
