The show This is Us recently aired its fifth season finale, tying up loose ends to storylines like Toby's search for a job and Kevin and Madison's journey down the aisle. While some things worked out, like Beth and Tess finally coming to an understanding and Toby and Kate deciding they both needed to be working parents, other things were left up in the air, such as the status of Kevin and Madison's future relationship.
NBC recently renewed the drama series for a sixth and final season, which means viewers only get 18 more episodes of the Pearson family and all of their drama. Because of the cliffhanger endings season after season, fans have gathered many questions they need answered before they say goodbye.
Who Does Uncle Nicky Marry?
In the final moments of Season 5, Uncle Nicky emerges from what looks to be a hotel hallway in a hurry. He comments on how he needs to get nylons for "the wife," which begs the question: who does Uncle Nicky marry between 2021 and 2026?
Some fans have speculated that Nicky is married to Rebecca in the future, given that in the scenes of her bedridden, he appears to be in front of her wearing a ring. Others are holding out hope that Nicky reconnected with his first love, Sally, and the two finally got their happily ever after.
Who Is The Father Of Deja's Baby?
In the midseason premiere of Season 5, viewers sighed a breath of relief as adult Deja and Annie pulled up to Kevin's house in the flash-forward. This meant they were alive and well, and still very much involved with their family affairs.
The biggest shocker, though, was the reveal that adult Deja was pregnant, leaving fans wondering who the father of her future baby could be. Of course, there is hope that it is her high school sweetheart and current boyfriend, Malik, but a lot could change in over a decade. Hopefully, the final season will give us an answer and more of a glimpse into Deja's future.
Will We See More Of The Distant Future?
This Is Us hasn't been afraid to jump ahead 5, 10, 15, or even 20 years into the future. Season 4 was the first look viewers got of the distant future, with an entire storyline revolving around Kate and Toby's son Jack meeting and falling in love with his wife, Lucy.
Fans haven't seen much of grown-up Jack since the end of Season 4 when his sister Hailey rushes to the hospital to be with her brother and sister-in-law to witness the birth of her niece. It's safe to assume that Season 6 will include some more insight into what the future holds for the next generation of Pearsons, including Madison and Kevin's twins, Franny and Nicholas.
How Do Kate and Phillip Get Together?
The biggest shocker in the Season 5 finale revealed that in five years' time, Kate would be getting married again -- to her boss, Phillip (Chris Geere).
This revelation opens the door for plenty of Kate, Toby, and Phillip storylines in Season 6, including the end of Kate and Toby's marriage and the beginning of Kate and Phillip's love story. Kate and Toby's relationship has been rocky for a couple of seasons now, but it will be interesting to see how it all falls apart and how Kate and her musical boss come together.
Does Madison Find Love?
Almost marrying Kevin made Madison realize what she had been missing her entire life: true love. Her parents always told her to settle, and she continuously did as a means to protect herself from being abandoned once again.
Madison broke things off with Kevin after he couldn't say he was in love with her, marking the first time she put her own happiness and self-worth first. Now that Madison is bound by blood via the twins to the Pearsons, fans need to know if she will find her Prince Charming before the series wraps up.
What Is Randall The 'Rising Star' Of?
A magazine sitting on Kevin's nightstand in the 2026 flash-forward revealed that Randall Pearson had his own feature article that described him as a 'rising star'; however, fans were left wondering what he was the star of.
There are plenty of possibilities; his political career could've taken off, he could've founded a business either with Kevin (Big Three Homes) or Beth (her dance studio) or found a totally unrelated passion. Whatever it may be, Randall's Season 6 storyline will hopefully focus on his as well as Beth's future.
Will We Get Miguel And Rebecca's Love Story?
Fans have been promised Miguel and Rebecca's love story since Season 1 Episode 2, after being shocked that Bec would marry her late husband's best friend. However, five seasons later and all viewers know about the pairing is that reconnected on Facebook in 2008.
Miguel explained to Kevin this season that not all relationships are fairytales like Jack and Rebecca; some are like his and Rebecca's, which was built on mutual respect and admiration for one another and grew into love. It would be a lot easier to accept these two as a couple if fans got to see how they fell in love, and hopefully, Season 6 will explore that.
Who Does Kevin End Up With?
Kevin's future relationship status has been a burning question for fans for a while now. Will he get back together with his first love Sophie? Will Cassidy come back? What about Zoe? Viewers thought they might finally get an answer as he prepared to wed the mother of his children, Madison, in the Season 5 finale.
But after Madison broke up with him and the flash-forward revealed Kate to be walking down the aisle, fans were once again left wondering if Kevin was going to end up with anyone, and if so, who would it be? Based on that 2026 scene, Madison and Kevin did look pretty friendly and flirtatious, so maybe there is still hope for a Jerry McGuire declaration of love between them.
Does Everyone Make It To The Future?
So far in the Kevin's house flash-forward, viewers have seen Rebecca, Randall, Beth, Toby, Uncle Nicky, Kevin, all three Pearson daughters, and Kevin's children.
In the midseason premiere of Season 5, a white car pulled up to the house, but the vehicle's driver remains unknown. Do Kate, Miguel, and Madison make it to the future? Does anybody die a tragic death before then? What about Kate and her new husband? Season 6 needs to answer whether or not the entire Pearson gang is getting back together.
Are They Saying Goodbye To Rebecca?
Based on every flash-forward thus far, it appears that everyone is reuniting at Kevin's house to say a final goodbye to the matriarch of the Pearson family. Rebecca has only been shown lying on a bed, with Uncle Nicky facing her and Randall having to re-introduce himself as her son.
Viewers know that Rebecca is facing early-onset Alzheimer's in the present day but are unaware of how severe it has gotten in the future. Given the context clues, she may be in the final stages of her illness, and her family has gathered to give her a heartfelt sendoff.
