As far as fantasy properties are concerned, The Witcher is one of the best-known. It includes not only the popular Netflix show with Henry Cavill playing the titular part, but also a series of books by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and, of course, the highly successful trilogy of video games.

As such, there is a lot of source material to go through to get to know the world of The Witcher as closely as possible. It includes many stories and characters, both heroes and villains. And it also doesn't shy away from romances, even though love stories aren't the primary focus of the series. Consider this a spoiler warning for the Witcher books, games, and Netflix series as major plot points in all will be covered.

Yennefer And Istredd

Yennefer and Istredd argue in The Witcher

This romance doesn't a happy ending, neither in the books nor in the show. In the book series, Yennefer is seeing her fellow sorcerer Istredd at the same time she's with Geralt. And when Istredd learns about this and confronts Geralt, Yennefer leaves them both.

In the Netflix version, they have a sweeter relationship when they're both young. Istredd shows understanding and affection to Yennefer likes of which she hasn't experienced before. But, in the end, their ambitions break them apart. Still, their romance humanizes them both and makes fans get to understand them both even better.

Pavetta And Duny

Duny and Pavetta in The Witcher

Princess Pavetta and her future husband Duny— the eventual parents of Ciri— didn't have an easy start as a couple. After all, Duny was cursed and Queen Calanthé had other plans for her daughter. But fate intervened and Duny came to claim Pavetta's hand in marriage as she was promised to him as a Child of Surprise.

Pavetta actually returned Duny's affection and she stopped people from killing him. In the end, they broke his curse and it's safe to assume they lived happily...at least, until they died tragically during a shipwreck.

Keira Metz And Lambert

Keira Metz Lambert

Geralt has a soft spot when it comes to sorceresses. Keira Metz is the first potential romantic interest in The Witcher 3. She and Geralt briefly get together, only for Keira to later die— or to go to the Witchers' keep, Kaer Morhen. If she goes to Kaer Morhen, she and another Witcher, Lambert, get together in the end and travel side by side.

Not much is known about their romance, but they both were very lonely before, especially Lambert, so it's good to know they found somebody. Plus, as Keira herself mentions in the game, she always preferred dark-haired men.

Shani And Vlodimir Von Everec

Shani Vlodimir

This romance— if it can even be called romantic— is highly funny and unusual as it happens after Vlodimir is already dead. He briefly possesses Geralt's body to enjoy one last night of human life. Geralt/Vlodimir then accompanies Shani to her friend's wedding. He pays her a lot of compliments, is courting her the entire time and finally kisses her while they're dancing together.

Shani doesn't seem that excited about Vlodimir kissing her in Geralt's body but it's later revealed she thinks Vlodimir is funny and she even goes to put fresh flowers on his grave, so it's possible she misses him once he leaves.

Dandelion And Priscilla

The Witcher Dandelion and Priscilla

Dandelion and Priscilla are both artists who meet at a poets' tourney. Sparks fly between them and Dandelion, even though he romanced many women before, falls for the beautiful singer. They get together and it looks like Dandelion is serious about the romance.

That becomes even more obvious once Priscilla gets brutally attacked and Dandelion has to be there for her to help her recover. These two are a match made in heaven, considering their similar personalities and interests.

Dandelion And Anna Henrietta

Anna Henrietta

Speaking of Dandelion, there was also his remarkable relationship with Anna Henrietta, the Duchess of Toussaint. Anna Henrietta reveals that Dandelion composed a romantic poem for her, something her father wasn't very happy about. Anna Henrietta then inquires about Dandelion when Geralt to Toussaint and it seems she's still angry at the poet, saying she would have him killed.

But as it later becomes obvious, there are no real bad feelings between them. In case her sister dies but Anna Henrietta lives, she and Dandelion reunite and the old romantic bond between them turns into a friendly one— simply because Dandelion is there for her when Anna Henrietta grieves her sister.

Syanna And Dettlaff

Syanna and Dettlaff reunite in The Witcher 3

Technically, this is one of the most twisted relationships in The Witcher 3. Syanna is mostly using Dettlaff to achieve her goals, to kill Anna Henrietta in the end. But moving past that, their storyline is fascinating and worth including on this list. It proves that sometimes even the biggest beast— aka the higher vampire Dettlaff— isn't the real villain here.

Syanna's betrayal makes the murdering vampire somehow more sympathetic, and that was no easy task to achieve for the creators of the game. What's more, it's clear from Dettlaff's behavior that he truly loves Syanna and worries for her, until he learns the truth about her deception.

Philippa Eilhart And Sigismund Dijkstra

Philippa Eilhart Sigismund Dijkstra

It seems like a successful relationship is just hard to maintain in the world of The Witcher, as even the experienced spy Dijkstra and the powerful sorceress Philippa Eilhart couldn't make it work. Their story once again differs in the games and in the books but is more prominent in the games.

Philippa has apparently manipulated Dijkstra which left him feeling betrayed and wanting to get revenge on her. However, Philippa tells the story in a slightly different way so it's up to each player to decide whom they believe.

Mislav And Florian

Witcher Mislav

The story of the hunter Mislav and a noble lord's son Florian is one of The Witcher's most intriguing, but also most tragic, romances. The player only learns more about it when Geralt meets Mislav and the man remembers times long past.

Apparently, Mislav and Florian were in love but Florian was much more noble than Mislav. Plus, they were both men, which weren't permitted at the times. All in all, the relationship ended in tragedy when Florian died but from the way Mislav's speaking about him, it's clear he never stopped loving the dead man.

Vesemir And Countess Mignole

Countess Mignole

When Geralt meets the old Countess Mignole, she reveals that she and the Witcher Vesemir used to be a couple. When Vesemir came to kill a beast, they fell in love but the countess's father learned the truth and Vesemir had to run.

Unfortunately, these two never reunited and Vesemir has never had another romantic partner. The meeting between Geralt and the countess can then go in two different ways— depending on whether Vesemir has already died in the battle against the Wild Hunt by the time Geralt meets Vesemir's former lover or not.
