The Winchesters introduced audiences to many new characters in the Supernatural universe, but none more interesting than the mysterious Carlos (played by Jojo Fleites). While audiences don't know much about Carlos's backstory, it seems the mid-season premiere will be delving into their backstory as a musician. It was teased in earlier episodes that music was part of the reason Carlos began hunting.

The Winchesters haven't delved too much into the new character's backstory since the show's primary focus is the budding romance between John Winchester and Mary Campbell. However, audiences did learn a little about Ada and her half-Djinn son and that Carlos also fought in the Vietnam War like John. While details have been scarce, episode 8 will delve into Carlos's past, while episode 10 will help audiences get to know Lata and what she brings to the table as a hunter.

Carlos' Style Feels The Most 70s Of The Characters

Out of all the characters introduced to audiences in The Winchesters, Carlos is the one who most embodies the 70s vibe. The 70s were a big time for music, with new genres emerging and now classic bands making their mark. Carlos feels a deep connection to music, so it would make sense for the era to shine the brightest in them, especially since the 70s had such a big impact on Dean in Supernatural canon. In addition, Carlos hinted that they feel responsible for their parents' deaths because they were helping them pursue their music dream when ghouls killed them. It'd certainly be interesting to see how this incorporates into their music now as a hunter and how they perceive music in general.

Danneel Ackles Can Make Her Mark On Carlos

Sister Jo standing in a white mansion in Supernatural

One of the executive producers on The Winchesters is Danneel Ackles, who guest-starred on Supernatural as Sister Jo/Anael in multiple seasons. Even though Sister Jo never had much to do regarding the plot, The Winchesters provides Danneel Ackles the chance to leave her mark. The best way to do this would be to have a lot of Danneel show through in Carlos. Danneel Ackles has been involved with Supernatural for a while since she is married to Jensen Ackles, who played Dean Winchester.

Danneel Ackles seems very into the 70s, and her knowledge and passion for it could help build a character like Carlos, who fits the mold of the 70s better than any other member of the core four of Mary, John, and Lata. Not only that, but Danneel is relatively new to a position of power on The Winchesters, where she had little to no say while on Supernatural. She brings in a fresh perspective with a lot of value when creating new characters for audiences to fall in love with, like Carlos. Having a lot of Danneel's influence over the storyline and vibe of the Carlos character would be a great way to put Danneel's personal touch on The Winchesters characters.

The Winchesters has a lot of great and interesting new characters that fans of Supernatural already love. Bringing more of the time period into the show will allow some characters, like Carlos, to shine. With Carlos's backstory getting explored in The Winchesters episode 8, hopefully, audiences can see them interact with some of the cooler parts of the 70s, like its diverse music and fashion scenes.
