The White Lotus is a show unlike any other, with an interesting storyline that somehow makes the mundane daily doings of vacationers and staff on a resort captivating. Fans were hooked through the short six-episode anthology series.

From the compelling characters to the interesting, intersecting storylines, fans and critics, alike, fell in love with the show. The White Lotus earned an impressive 20 Emmy nominations, tying with Ted Lasso as the second-most nominated show (behind only HBO’s Succession). So, it comes as no surprise that fans have memorialized some of the pivotal moments and characters from season one in memes.

The Many Faces Of Armond

One of the breakout characters on The White Lotus is Armond, the dutiful but troubled resort manager. He deals with all the annoyances of the privileged and entitled guests. They complain about everything from getting the wrong room to not having the right food. Plus, they make ridiculous requests, like wanting to charter a boat to spread ashes in the water.

Despite this, Armond handles every situation with a smile, even if it means he rushes back to his office to blow off steam, often in the worst ways possible. This meme takes the popular captions about what someone does at work versus what they think they do, what their employers think they do, and so on, using the many faces of Armond to illustrate. What’s funniest, of course, is the last image: only fans of the show will know what is exactly going on in it.

Breaking Them Down

The White Lotus is the perfect type of show with a unique ensemble cast to break down into their philosophical types, ranging from lawful good to chaotic evil. Any fan of the show wouldn’t argue with this creator’s designations, which include naming Belinda, the most likable character on The White Lotus, as lawful good while Shane, who just couldn’t let things go, as chaotic evil.

The designations are so spot-in, including Armond as lawful evil, Quinn as true neutral, and Tanya – one of the characters from season 1 confirmed for season 2 of The White Lotus - as chaotic good. Just seeing the meme alone would be enough to make those who haven’t checked out the show want to watch and see what all the fuss is about.

That Theme Song

There’s something about the theme song of The White Lotus that makes viewers simultaneously want to head out on vacation and feel anxious about something dramatic going on every time they hear it. As this meme celebrates, the theme song contains plenty of bongo drums and has a tropical feel to it. Chances are, that could change for season 2 as one thing we know about season 2 of The White Lotus is that it will take place in the less tropical setting of Sicily.

It’s a unique theme song that doesn’t contain lyrics: it can be likened to the theme from Survivor in that it denotes fun and sun with some tribal music, too. The theme song of the show is so instantly recognizable and beautifully sums up what the show is all about with just a few notes.

Just Relax

Olivia and Paula were the best of friends, or so it seemed. It appeared that beneath the surface, the two shared a mutual resentment of one another: Paula resented Olivia for everything she had and her privilege while Olivia resented Paula any time she found happiness outside of her.

The pair sitting, cross-legged on pool chairs, intently staring at their books with the tagline “Relax” is perfectly reminiscent of most of the scenes and the mentality of these two girls throughout the show. They did nothing but either relax or get up to trouble, often managing to accomplish both at the same time.

Are You Having A Good Stay?

This meme relating to the COVID-19 pandemic has been used again and again with two different images each time, each one more clever than the next. In this variation, Armond from The White Lotus is highlighted in the second image.

The first image shows a fully packed suitcase with a hand closing it, presumably ready to head out on vacation. This was likely the case with every resort guest on the show, who showed up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to have the best vacation ever. Armond’s clenched, angry face in the second image, meanwhile, is instantly recognizable from one of the most memorable and shocking scenes from the show, and the worst thing Armond did on The White Lotus. It references something, or someone, defecating on your plans, which is precisely what happened to most of the guests on the show.

Fall Plans Vs. Delta Variant

Another “Fall Plans versus Delta Variant” meme, this one uses two images from The White Lotus. In the first on the left is the happy couple, Rachel and Shane, with big smiles on their faces and leis around their necks, arriving for what they believe will be the most memorable vacation as newly minted husband and wife. This lovely, hopeful image is described as “my fall plans.”

On the right, however, is an image of Armond, clearly angry and annoyed at someone, likely Shane. While he has a festive Hawaiian shirt on, his face suggests that he isn’t exactly in a tropical, happy mood. It’s far more subtle than the other Delta Variant meme. But for fans of the show, it perfectly sums up the theme of entitled guests and annoyed workers who have to deal with them.
