The Voice season 21 has reached the Battles, with 11 singers moving forward in the competition, a few contestants getting saved by a coach, and other competitors unfortunately getting sent home. There are always many steps to competing on The Voice, from the Blind Auditions to the Battles round to the Knockouts to finally getting to the live shows. Without a doubt, the Battles are always one of the most nerve-racking steps in this competition.

Going into the Battles, the singers only have their Blind Audition performances to rely on. No one has built up any sort of "track record" yet, which means that any contestant could potentially falter in a Battle and not get saved by the coaches. Furthermore, it is quite unnatural for the contestants to compete in the Battles given that they have to go head-to-head against another contestant on the main stage of The Voice. Most of these singers perform by themselves and don't ever have to duet against a competitor in the real world.

Nonetheless, these singers go into The Voice knowing how the show works, so this is part of the gig. The rules for the Battles are simple: the coaches must put two of their acts together to sing against one another round after round. The acts duet the same song at the same time, so they must each outshine the fellow singer(s) on the stage with them. In the end, the coach who put them together chooses to keep a contestant and send the other home. However, each coach has the option to "save" one losing contestant from their own team and the option to "steal" one losing contestant from another team.

Katie Rae

Team Ariana Grande's Katie Rae and Bella DeNapoli went head-to-head against each other in a duet to "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. This was an insanely good performance from both Katie and Bella, but Katie did just enough to be chosen as the winner of this Battle. Nonetheless, Ariana still used a "save" to keep Bella in the competition as well.

Samuel Harness

Samuel Harness faced off against KJ Jennings in a Battle to "I Know What You Did Last Summer" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. Coach John Legend paid a lot of attention to this Battle to make sure that he didn't make the wrong call here. In the end, John chose Samuel as the winner. Unfortunately, KJ was eliminated from The Voice season 21 after not being saved or stolen by any of the coaches.

Girl Named Tom

The trio known as Girl Named Tom battled it out with Kinsey Rose. Their duet was to the tune of "Seven Bridges Road" by Steve Young. As their coach, Kelly Clarkson had a tough call to pick between one of these two very talented acts. She ultimately announced Girl Named Tom as the winner, but Kelly still used a "save" for Kinsey to also move forward in the competition.

Peedy Chavis

Team Blake Shelton contestants Peedy Chavis and The Joy Reunion also faced off in a Battle. For this iconic performance, Peedy and The Joy Reunion sang Three Dog Night's "Joy To The World". Blake decided that Peedy was the winner of this Battle, so he'll be advancing to the Knockouts. Meanwhile, The Joy Reunion didn't get any "save" or "steal" from the coaches.

David Vogel

Performing "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" by Fall Out Boy, David Vogel and Chavon Rodgers had one of the most exciting performances in the Battles round. Their coach Ariana decided that David won the Battle, so Chavon could've been "stolen" by another coach if they wanted him for their respective teams. Unfortunately, however, Chavon was eliminated after losing this Battle.

Jeremy Rosado

Jeremy Rosado and Jershika Maple's duet was to Justin Bieber's recent hit single "Hold On", and coach Kelly Clarkson crowned Jeremy as this Battle's champion. Thankfully, Jershika did an impressive enough job to impress the other coaches in front of her, so she was "stolen" by John Legend to join his team.

Hailey Green

After performing a duet version of Maren Morris' "Girl", Hailey Green and Lana Scott both advanced to the Knockouts round. Blake Shelton chose Hailey as the winner of the Battle, but he still used a "save" to also keep Lana in the competition moving forward. As such, they're both staying on Team Blake.

Libianca

Libianca has been one of the most impressive contestants on The Voice season 21 thus far, and she once again proved herself in the Battles. She sang The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears" alongside Tommy Edwards, and Libianca came out victorious. Thus, Libianca is staying on Team Blake Shelton and Tommy was eliminated from the show.

Xavier Cornell

Performing "telepatía" by Kali Uchis, Team Kelly Clarkson contestants Xavier Cornell and Carolina Alonso went head-to-head in a Battle. Xavier was the winner of this Battle, but Kelly did have a chance to "save" Carolina if she wished to do so. With that said, Kelly chose to keep her "save" for another Battle round, so Carolina was sent home.

Katherine Ann Mohler

From Team Ariana Grande, Katherine Ann Mohler faced off against Vaughn Mugol in a duet of "Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly Clarkson. In the end, Ari crowned Katherine Ann as the winner of the Battle and didn't "save" Vaughn from elimination. So Katherine Ann will now move on to compete in the Knockouts round before reaching the live shows. There were fans rooting for Vaughn in this competition, but this happened to be his time to go home.

Brittany Bree

One of the best Battles of the season was between Brittany Bree and Samara Brown. Their duet of "Something He Can Feel" by Aretha Franklin blew the coaches away and had the fans begging for both of them to stay. Coach John Legend chose Brittany as the winner of the Battle, but he did use a "save" to keep Samara around as well. Overall, no one is disappointed that both of these fantastic singers will move forward to the Knockouts on The Voice season 21.
