Screen Rant is thrilled to exclusively present a new clip from upcoming psychological thriller The Visitor, which arrives on digital and on Demand October 7. Created as part of the Blumhouse Television and EPIX deal to produce eight original films together, the latest original horror film on the slate was directed by Justin P. Lange (who previously worked on The Seventh Day and The Dark) from a screenplay by Simon Boyes and Adam Mason (who co-wrote an episode of the horror anthology Into the Dark).
The Visitor follows a young couple named Robert (Finn Jones, Iron Fist) and Maia (Jessica McNamee, Mortal Kombat) who move to Maia's childhood home. While there, Robert discovers an old portrait in the attic, with a man in it who looks remarkably like himself. "The Visitor," as he is called, sends Robert down a frightening rabbit hole to seek out the identity of his doppelgänger. The secrets he uncovers, however, may be too terrifying for his family to bear.
In Screen Rant's exclusive clip from The Visitor, Robert's investigations take him outside the home and to a mysterious shop. As he reads the strange caption, "The Visitor Watches it Burn," Donna Biscoe's character comes out to lecture him about the dark history of the place. The Visitor is clearly hiding some deep and unsettling secrets that could destroy Robert and his family if he uncovers them, but it seems that only one stranger is willing to tell him to run. On the other hand, the recently released trailer showcases several residents who seem more than keen on him staying whether or not he chooses to learn more. Who in the town knows what, and to what end, will be central questions as Robert explores the horrors around him.
Blumhouse has produced over 150 movies and television series, including epic installments of franchises such as Halloween, Paranormal Activity, and The Purge, as well as high-profile auteur films like Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man, Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, and Jordan Peele's Get Out. Their slate of horror and thriller films for EPIX is helping them expand their corner of the genre market alongside a premium television network known for quality entertainment. Some of EPIX's recent offerings consist of the Emmy-winning series Godfather of Harlem and the dramatic retelling of War of the Worlds.
The Visitor will be on Digital and On Demand beginning on October 7, distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, before landing on EPIX in December 2022.
