The Vampire Diaries is a show that certainly follows characters that are just as the title suggests: vampires. But, there are plenty of other supernatural beings that exist on the show. Witches are some of the most prevalent and powerful beings on The Vampire Diaries, and the show just wouldn’t be the same without them.
However, some of these witches do more harm than good. And, some are just as evil (if not more evil) than some of the vampires on the show.
Sheila Bennett
Starting with the least evil witch on The Vampire Diaries is Bonnie Bennet’s grandmother: Sheila Bennet. Not only is she the kindest witch on the show, if she does do something considered “evil” or bad to another character, but it’s also always in the best interest of Bonnie.
Sheila dies trying to protect Bonnie from the centuries-old vampires being released from the tomb below the church. She only lied to Stefan and Elena in an attempt to protect Bonnie, and even though Bonnie talked her into trying to bring down the curse temporarily, it failed and led to Sheila’s tragic death.
Bonnie Bennett
Bonnie is slightly more evil than her grandmother, Sheila Bennett because she (to get revenge) would be evil. This is seen several times as she and Damon go from enemies to best friends while trapped in Kai’s world.
But the most important thing about Bonnie’s “evil” or bad behavior, just as her grandmother, is always justified and something that anyone else in her position would do.
Esther Mikaelson
Esther Mikaelson, the person to create the immortal beings that are vampires, is eviler than Bonnie or Sheila Bennett because whether she meant to or not, she created evil beings out of her fear of losing her family.
Even though she attempts to reverse this by making it possible to kill the Original vampires (which is her family), she never really succeeds. So, the evilness it would take to murder your own entire family isn’t achieved because she doesn’t.
Emily Bennett
Emily Bennett is fairly sneaky, evil, and self-serving, which makes her the evilest Bennet witch by a long shot. Not only does she terrorize Bonnie and her friends, but she also does things solely to protect herself and her family.
On one hand, this is a justified reason to be evil, but a lot of the evil things she does negatively affects Bonnie (who is her many a great, granddaughter). She’s not eviler than the Parker family, however.
Joshua Parker
Joshua Parker is the father of Kai Parker and the former leader of the Gemini Coven. He is responsible for imprisoning Kai after he killed all of his siblings to become the leader of the Gemini Coven himself.
Kai’s father’s “evil” actions were most definitely justified after his son killed all of his siblings, but it does have to be pretty cruel to throw your son in a world that repeats one day over and over for the rest of time. This earns Joshua a higher place on the scale of evilness.
Silas
Silas, the original doppelgänger on the doppelgänger chain that Stefan stems from, is an incredibly evil witch and earns his title as such. He is incredibly cruel and only in it for himself, and will do anything he needs to to get what he wants, even if that means betraying an incredibly beautiful and evil witch herself who has no problem causing the doppelgänger curse on their bloodline.
Kai Parker
Kai Parker is eviler than Silas because he intentionally murdered all of his siblings to siphon their magic and become the most powerful Gemini witch in the Gemini Coven. He deserved to be imprisoned in his world, living the same day over and over again.
Without the intrusion of Bonnie and Damon in his world, he might never live to torture another one of his family members or anyone who gets in his way.
Qetsiyah
The evilest witch in the entire Vampire Diaries series is most definitely Qetsiyah. That is not only because she bitterly created the doppelgänger chain between Stefan and Elena so that they never end up together but always believe they are supposed to, but also because she got her revenge on Silas which was pretty cool.
Qetsiyah is that witch on The Vampire Diaries that you’d least like to be on their bad side. She’s the evilest and there is no way to get around it: she caused generations of torture between lovers to punish her ex-lover who cheated on and abandoned her.
