While Kat Graham recently told Entertainment Tonight that she would never reprise her role as Bonnie Bennett in a reboot of The Vampire Diariesfans still hope for the chance to see their favorite characters again. While main characters like Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers Damon and Stefan have the most compelling storylines, there are plenty of side characters who viewers enjoy seeing, no matter how briefly they appear on the series.

Reddit fans are sharing their favorite minor characters on The Vampire Diaries, whether humans or vampires or, in two cases, witches who know a lot about the history of Mystic Falls.

Anna Zhu

Pearl Zhu's daughter Anna appears in season 1, bonding with Elena's brother Jeremy Gilbert. Jeremy thinks that Anna is a regular person and an introvert like him, but learns that not only is Anna a vampire, but Pearl got stuck in the tomb along with many others.

Redditor lilys00 loves Anna, writing that the character "was just so sympathetic and genuinely my favourite person for Jeremy in the entire series." Watching John Gilbert kill Anna is upsetting and difficult, knowing how much Jeremy loves her.

Jenna Sommers

Elena and Jeremy's aunt Jenna Sommers is a fan favorite TV family member. Her relationship with Alaric Saltzman is a popular one, and Jenna shifts her entire life so she can take care of her relatives when their parents pass away.

Redditor lilys00 loves Jenna and called her a "relatable character with the blending of sarcasm and vulnerability." Klaus murders Jenna, which still feels shocking to think about, and it's so sad for Elena and Jeremy who have lost everything at this point.

Rose-Marie

The vampire Rose-Marie and Damon are romantically involved for a short period of time, and Rose helps Damon and Stefan go up against Klaus. There are moments when Rose seems good and moments when she seems evil, which is definitely par for the course with the series.

Redditor Sidprescott96 wrote, "I liked rose," and Rose is definitely a fan favorite side character. In season 3, Rose comes to Jeremy as a spirit to give him some helpful information, proving that she has an important role on the show.

Mason Lockwood

When discussing favorite minor characters on the series, Redditor ArchangelNorth posted that they love "Mason!" This character has a really sad journey as Katherine Pierce manipulates him for a while. Damon ultimately kills Mason, who removes his heart, a stunning and dark scene that is hard to forget about.

There are several characters who come back briefly as ghosts, and Mason does this in season 3. Mason expects some compassion from Damon and would love nothing more than for him to say that he's sorry for murdering him.

Lexi Branson

Of the side characters on the series, Redditor HollysGollightly enjoys the character of Lexi Branson, writing, "I loved her friendship with Stefan." Redditor Troy2324 wrote, "I loved lexi her vibe was infectious!"

Lexi and Stefan's TVD friendship is so special because Lexi was part of Stefan and Damon's world even before they showed up in Mystic Falls, and she knows more about them than anyone. Damon makes a horrible mistake when he decides that The Town Council can't find out that he and Stefan are vampires and murders Lexi, making her a scapegoat.

Jesse

Jesse is a minor character in season 5, attending Whitmore College. Redditor mimi0108 called Jesse "funny, cute, kind" and added, "It was interesting to see Caroline take him under her wing and teach him how to be a vampire."

When Jesse becomes an Augustine Vampire, it's impossible not to become deeply invested in his time on the series, as this is a fascinating kind of vampire who are used for experiments.

Lucy Bennett

Katherine is a sympathetic TVD character at times, but she's mostly a harsh and cruel character. Bonnie's cousin Lucy is also a witch and in the season 2 episode "Masquerade," Katherine is responsible for Lucy visiting Mystic Falls. This is one more example of Katherine doing whatever she wants for her own purposes.

Redditor tobiasmacedon loves Lucy and wrote, "I would have liked to see her pop up like once a season, it would have enhanced Bonnie's storyline some"

Elizabeth Forbes

Caroline Forbes not only has a fascinating journey from human to vampire, but her mother, Elizabeth Forbes, is also a beloved and important character. Redditor danielfq posted that "Liz!" is a favorite of theirs.

Liz wants nothing more than to protect Mystic Falls, and she has a compelling crisis when, as a member of the Town Council in Mystic Falls, she's been told for years to hate vampires. When Caroline becomes a vampire, Liz realizes that it's time to put her beliefs aside and continue being a part of her daughter's life.

Andie Star

Andie Star isn't part of the show for very long, but she's a key part of Mystic Falls as she and Jenna are close and she works as a journalist.

Redditor tofuandtea appreciates Andie's character and wrote that it "annoyed me how Andi and Aaron were 'important' side characters for a decent amount of episodes but then they died and were never mentioned again." When Andie jumps and falls, dying right away, it's a shocking The Vampire Diaries death that is extra emotional.

Grams

There are many family members who make a big impression on fans of The Vampire Diaries, and Redditor BlitzLicht321 loves "Grams."

Bonnie's grandmother Sheila Bennett is brilliant and fascinating since she knows so much about being a witch. Sheila's ability to figure out any situation and assist Bonnie as she gets used to her powers is impressive, and Grams is always warm and compassionate.
