Fans will be overjoyed to hear they can watch Joseph Morgan as the season big bad on Titans, but nobody will ever forget him as the eternal big bad that was Klaus Mikaelson. Despite being the villain on The Vampire Diaries, fans found themselves to be rooting for him on The Originals.

Klaus was a very complicated character - never only good or only bad. He was evil but proved to be capable of empathy, and beyond everything else was known as a person who would do anything to protect his family and the people he loved. However, a character isn't as iconic, spanning shows and episodes, without collecting a few plot holes on the way.

Creating 12 Hybrids Only To Kill Them

This was one of the biggest plot holes regarding Klaus, and it all comes back to throwing tantrums. Klaus goes through a lot to create his own family of hybrids, which often felt more like an army. He even tried to drain Elena of blood to create as many as he can.

However, in a moment of rage, he kills all hybrids, except Tyler to prove some sort of point. It meant everything he did, and the hurt he put other people through was literally for nothing.

Having A Weakness For Caroline

Klaus feeds Caroline his blood

The so-called romance between Klaus and Caroline did not begin on a good note. In fact, Klaus tried to kill Caroline by giving her a werewolf bite, and then at the last minute he came to the rescue.

But what doesn't make any sense was what the two had in common, except for the sexual chemistry. He was 1000 years older than her, and Caroline was a teenager at the time, so the reason she caught his attention, and why he put up with her often childish behavior didn't make a lot of sense.

Klaus' Double Fangs In Flashbacks

Klaus Mikaelson angry on The Vampire Diaries

This is mostly a continuity plot hole, but once Klaus becomes a hybrid, he has double fangs - the vampire and the werewolf ones. These can be seen often when he's in a fight. However, he should only have these after he reversed the curse and activated the werewolf gene.

But Klaus's double fangs make an appearance in some flashbacks from the time when his werewolf gene was still dormant, and it's therefore impossible that he would have the double fangs already.

Klaus Being Invincible

On The Vampire Diaries, Klaus is the ultimate big bad. While everyone is scared of him, he is often bested by Mystic Falls residents, and so are the other original vampires. Though a big threat, they proved that they can be beaten.

However, on The Originals, Klaus is seen taking on entire armies and remaining undefeated. He often took on great villains and powerful supernatural beings, and yet remained undefeated, until Hollow finally slowly brought him his demise.

Klaus Not Worrying About Hope

After Klaus gets used to the idea of having a daughter, it becomes clear very early on that he would do anything for her. Even though he has numerous enemies, everything he does seems to be in order to provide a safer place for her to live in. Klaus literally became a hero for Hope.

That's why it's so unusual that Klaus eventually becomes an absentee father. Even though the Hollow prevents him from being near Hope physically, he ignores her letters and lets her believe he doesn't care. It's never truly explained why he did that, but luckily they were able to have some more moments together.

Always And Forever Vow

Klaus keeps going on and on about how much his family means to him. The always and forever vow seems so important to him, and yet he keeps breaking it himself. He daggers his siblings to get rid of them, and hurts them repeatedly, often resulting in some truly hilarious quotes on his side.

Klaus always says that he would kill anyone that went after his family, but when they killed Kol on The Vampire Diaries, he never went after Jeremy and Elena for killing him. It seems like the vow is only real when it's convenient.

He Is Unable To Control His Temper

Klaus is over a 1000 years old. He's had much longer to learn to control his temper. But even though his siblings have somewhat mastered this, he is seen over and over as someone who has zero self-control and does what he wants at the moment.

It makes no sense for Klaus to have survived this long with how impulsive he is, and how fond he is of throwing tantrums that never directly benefit him. He's pretty invincible, but, as is proved in the end, not completely invincible. It's a small miracle nobody has managed to kill him before.

He Uses Other People's Bodies (Except When He Needs To)

On The Vampire Diaries, Klaus is seen using Alaric's body to do his dirty work in the beginning. He does this with the help of some witches and does it often enough that it becomes sort of his thing.

However, later on The Vampire Diaries and throughout the entirety of The Originals, Klaus is never seen using this trick again. Even more, when his mother suggests he might switch bodies to stay safe, he is very much against it.

He Never Turns Into A Werewolf

Throughout Klaus' time on The Vampire Diaries the viewers learn that Klaus has a werewolf gene, but one that hasn't been tapped into due to a curse put on him. Klaus spends multiple episodes trying to reverse the curse, even killing aunt Jenna in the process.

But after breaking it, it's not mentioned often again. The only aspect Klaus is seen putting to use is the werewolf venom, which is lethal to non-original vampires. But he never shifts or uses any of the other skills that come with it.

He Goes From Villain To Hero

It was quite unusual how easy it was for Klaus to go from being the number one villain on The Vampire Diaries to anti-hero on The Originals. Fans rooted for him, despite knowing that he killed several of their favorite characters on TVD.

What was more unusual was that Klaus didn't really change all that much when crossing into the new show. He still remained merciless, and he still killed beloved characters during his tantrums, but fans somehow learned to embrace it. It's not really clear how it was possible, but it worked.
