The Valet was recently released on Hulu as an original movie to decent ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The rom-com is about a movie star who is accidentally photographed with her married lover, who then tries to cover it up by using the valet as her pretend boyfriend. What starts as a spoiled star not wanting to get caught, ends with the two pretend lovers seeing themselves for who they really are.
With a diverse cast, viewers may recognize many faces from the movie. Many of the cast have been in recent movies or TV shows having viewers wondering where they've seen them before.
Samara Weaving - Nine Perfect Strangers
Samara Weaving made a splash on screen when she starred in Ready or Not, in which she is hunted by her in-laws on her wedding night. Nine Perfect Strangers takes audiences through an experimental drug therapy retreat, in which all the participants are there for differing reasons. Samara Weaving plays Jessica, a woman seemingly obsessed with status and looks until her walls start to break down and viewers get to see the real her.
In The Valet, Weaving plays Olivia, a superstar movie actor who gets caught in a photo with her married lover and then devises a plan to have the valet, who was also in the shot, become her pretend boyfriend.
Eugenio Derbez - CODA
CODA (child of deaf adults) recently made waves on the awards circuit after it won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Screenplay. It also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. CODA showcases the life of a teenager, Ruby, whose parents are deaf, and how she navigates life within those parameters. Eugenio Derbez plays Bernardo Villalobos, Ruby's high school choir teacher. Ruby realizes her love for singing, and Mr. Villalobos helps her to fulfill her dream.
Eugenio plays Antonio Flores in The Valet and is thrust into the spotlight after agreeing to play Olivia's boyfriend to help keep her reputation intact. It doesn't hurt that he's getting paid as well as he hopes the money will help him win back his wife.
Betsy Brandt - Love, Victor
Betsy Brandt is probably best known as Hank's wife and Skyler's sister, Marie, in Breaking Bad. However, more recently she has portrayed Felix's mom, Dawn, in Love, Victor. Suffering from severe depression, Dawn struggles to make ends meet after losing her job, leaving Felix to feel the need to pick up the slack and pay the bills. Ever since Felix was a child, his mother has suffered from depression and, as a result, the house is always a mess. She tried to hide her depression from him by buying him toys.
Betsy Brandt is typically a supporting character in the movies and tv shows she's done, but she's had a prolific acting career, completing multiple projects almost every year since 1998. In The Valet, Betsy plays Kathryn Royce, wife of Vincent Royce who is having an affair with Olivia.
Max Greenfield - The Neighborhood
Released in 2018, The Neighborhood is about a couple that moves into a new neighborhood and their relationship with their opinionated next-door neighbor. Max Greenfield plays Dave, the overly-friendly new neighbor in this hilarious sitcom.
Cedric the Entertainer plays Calvin Butler, and in the trailer for the show states, "I live in a proud Black neighborhood, and I intend to keep it that way." When Max Greenfield, a white man, and his family move into the house next door, their cultural differences are put on display. Max plays Vincent Royce in The Valet.
Carmen Salinas - Man on Fire
Man on Fire is about a young girl's kidnapping and her bodyguard's unrelenting journey to find her. Carmen Salinas played one of the women who helped kidnap and guard the girls they took. Though Carmen Salinas' role in Man on Fire was small, it was a memorable and powerful scene. It was the first Hollywood movie that the celebrated Mexican actress landed.
Carmen Salinas was a well-known actress in Mexico, having starred in countless soap operas, films, and tv shows. She was an impressionist, comedian, theater entrepreneur, and later in her career, she became a politician. In The Valet, Salinas plays Cecilia, Antonio's mother.
Amaury Nolasco - Prison Break
Prison Break is a crime drama that aired originally on Fox and is about a man, Lincoln, who is believed to be wrongfully incarcerated and put on Death Row, and whose brother, Michael, joins him in prison and hatches a plan for their escape.
Amaury Nolasco plays Michael's cellmate, Fernando, and it is revealed later in the series that he was in prison for robbing a bank to help pay for an engagement ring for his girlfriend. Fernando accompanies the two brothers in their escape. Nolasco plays one of the valets and friends of Antonio in The Valet.
Carlos Santos - Gentefied
Gentefied is a Netflix original dramedy series about three cousins who try to stop the closure of their grandfather's taco shop while also pursuing their own dreams in an ever-changing neighborhood. Carlos Santos plays cousin Chris Morales, a chef who recently moved back to L.A. from Idaho and whose family sees him as a sellout.
In The Valet, Santos stars alongside Eugenio Derbez as a fellow valet at the fancy Beverly Hills hotel that start's the dramatic hijinx for Olivia.
Marisol Nichols - 24
24 was a smash hit first airing in 2001 about a counterterrorism Agent Jack Bauer who, over the course of 24 hours (or 24 episodes as each episode depicts one of the 24 hours), attempts to stop whatever assault the country is facing.
Marisol Nichols plays Nadia Yassir in season 6 of 24 . Yassir works alongside Jack Bauer as a CTU special agent. Nichols plays Antonio's ex in The Valet, and Antonio goes along with the crazy plan of covering up Olivia's affair all for Isabel (Nichols).
Diany Rodriguez - The Blacklist
The Blacklist stars James Spader as the FBI's most wanted fugitive until he decides to help the FBI to help catch his "blacklist" of enemies. Spanning over 9 seasons, Diany Rodriguez is a new addition to the current season as the bodyguard of Raymond Reddington.
She plays Weecha Xiu, a tough, no-nonsense kind of person who will do anything to defend herself and those she works for. In The Valet, Diany plays the local bike shop owner who is very vocal about the gentrification happening in her town and is outspoken about local issues.
Noemí González - Selena: The Series
Selena: The Series portrays the life of Mexican American superstar, Selena, her rise to fame, and the sacrifices she and her family had to make. Noemi Gonzalez plays Suzette Quintanilla, Selena's sister and bandmate.
In The Valet, Noemi plays Clara, Antonio's sister. As a story about family, Clara is always rooting for her brother, has his back, and makes sure he's taking care of himself. When talking about the movie, Gonzalez said, "I hope people feel seen. I hope people feel that they are valued. I hope people feel that we’re rooting for them and that there are people out there that do wish to connect and look at you in the eye when they hand you keys or a coffee drink or just have a pleasant rapport."
