The season finale left the Hargreeves and the audience on another serious cliffhanger with the reveal of the mysterious Sparrow Academy, which has taken the Umbrella Academy’s place in a new timeline. Season 2 answered some big questions fans of the series had after watching season 1, but it also left them asking plenty more.

Answered: Will the Hargreeves fix Vanya by going back to their childhood?

The Umbrella Academy Ending Time Travel

The final moments of season 1 involve Five deciding to use his time travel ability to take his siblings back with him to “fix” Vanya and prevent her from destroying the world. The family begins reverting back to their childhood bodies, which left many fans to believe that season 2 would begin with the Academy as teenagers.

Whether going back to their childhood was what Five was aiming for or not, it didn’t end up happening. Vanya’s memory loss in season 2 was enough to temporarily simmer down the destructiveness of her powers, but she regains her memories by the end of the season. Vanya will always be the bomb for the apocalypse, but can the uncontrollable side of her abilities be “fixed”?

Raised: What are Reginald’s interests on the moon?

Reginald Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy.

Reginald Hargreeves’s identity as an alien has been confirmed, but his motives remain unclear. After leaving a woman behind on some otherworldly planet, he makes his way to the 20th century to purchase an umbrella manufacturing business.

Hargreeves meets with the Majestic 12 one last time at the end of season 2, where they threaten to expose who he really is if he fails to supply them with special technology. His interests on the dark side of the moon are also mentioned. What on the moon is so important? Is there a bigger significance behind Luther’s moon mission?

Answered: Will Klaus see Dave again?

The Umbrella Academy Klaus and Dave

Klaus changes a lot after being transported to Vietnam and losing Dave. The two are split apart by time and tragedy, and Klaus makes it his mission to find Dave before the apocalypse arrives.

Klaus does end up seeing Dave again but not in the way he expected. After landing in the 1960s, he realizes that it is possible to find him again, and when he does, he’s a teenager that hasn’t even enlisted in the war where the two originally met. Klaus tries to convince Dave to not sign up so that he’ll live.

Raised: What are the extent of Harlan’s powers?

Netflix

Vanya saves Harlan’s life and unintentionally transfers superpowers over to him. He, too, struggles with the extreme strength of the abilities, and Vanya is able to take the powers back from Harlan and revert him back to his normal self, or so she thinks.

Sissy and Harlan drive to California at the end of season 2, and he levitates his toy above his hand in the back seat. It is highly likely that Harlan still has powers beyond the ability to make objects levitate. How powerful is Harlan, and how do his newfound abilities affect the timeline?

Answered: Was Grace a real person?

Umbrella Academy season 2 Grace

After an unsuccessful line of hired nannies, Grace took over as the Umbrella Academy’s full-time robotic mother. The details of how Grace came to be were never explained in season 1, but season 2 brought some light to her story.

We learn that Grace was modeled off a real woman who Reginald was in a relationship with in the 1960s. She conducted research on primates and was an important part of Pogo’s origin story. Grace intended to spend her life with Reginald until the timeline was altered and she discovered his connection to the Kennedy assassination.

Raised: What happens to Destiny’s Children?

The Umbrella Academy Klaus Season 2 Cult

Over his years in the '60s, Klaus gains a cult following and travels the world preaching his words of wisdom, which are song lyrics from the future. Klaus and Ben ditch the cult when their family finds a chance to return back to 2019 where they belong.

At the end of the season finale, the Destiny’s Children van is traveling down a road and the cult encounters the last remaining Swedish brother. He hops on board and they all drive away. Will we see the cult sometime again in the future, even without Klaus to lead them?

Answered: Will Allison get her voice back?

A scared Allison cries while looking up in The Umbrella Academy

During a heated argument with Vanya in season 1, Allison’s throat gets slit, and she suffers severe damage to her vocal cords. Grace is able to perform medical assistance, but it is too early to tell if Allison will be able to speak again.

Allison arrives in Dallas without the ability to speak. In the comics, Allison undergoes surgery at the Commission in exchange for her service, but in the show, she naturally heals over time and is able to use her powers again. However, she refrains from doing so because she feels good about legitimately earning everything she has without manipulation.

Raised: Will other dead characters return in the new timeline?

Cha Cha and Hazel pointing guns at the camera in The Umbrella Academy

The introduction of a new academy, a new Ben, and a very much alive Reginald Hargreeves is a game-changer for the Hargreeves in season 3. The interference of the timeline in the 1960s causes consequences in the present, and anything could happen.

If Reginald is alive, it is possible that other deceased characters can return. Harold Jenkins, Eudora Patch, Hazel and Cha-Cha, Pogo, etc. could make appearances in season 3.

Answered: Is the apocalypse inevitable?

Umbrella Academy 1963 Nuclear War Season 2 Opening

The Handler approaches old Five with the statement that the apocalypse is meant to happen and cannot be stopped. “Que sera, sera.” He thinks it is insane but accepts a position at the Commission so he can get back to his family and try to spare their lives.

In season 2, the Handler changes her statement about the apocalypse being inevitable, saying that she was “toeing the company line.” With this information, it is possible for the apocalypse to be stopped once and for all if the Hargreeves can correct the timeline (unless the Handler was lying).

Raised: What other powers do the Hargreeves have?

The Umbrella Academy abilities ranked powerful

Season 2 revealed that Diego’s powers are not limited to throwing knives with precision. He can manipulate the direction of projectiles, such as bullets, and he uses this ability to save himself and his siblings in the finale.

Reginald made a remark about Klaus’s untapped potential in season 1, and the super siblings have many more superpowers in the comics. Showrunner Steve Blackman has addressed the possibility of new powers in the upcoming seasons saying, “They didn’t finish their training with their dad, and they’re still sort of discovering stuff. One of the other things we’re going to find out going forward is they’re stronger together, their powers work better when they’re together as a team than when they’re apart. But I see all their powers changing a lot, going into future seasons.” What other hidden abilities do the Hargreeves have?
