The season two finale of The Umbrella Academy left the Hargreeves siblings as they faced the consequences of their time-travel meddling: The Sparrow Academy. After the group confronted Umbrella Academy founder Reginald Hargreeves in 1963 and prevented yet another apocalypse from taking place, the events of the future were altered, leading Hargreeves to form The Sparrow Academy instead.

The team has no time to celebrate their win as they are confronted by their academy replacements and most shockingly — a living Ben with no recollection of his siblings. Season three introduces a host of new characters, many of which appear to pose a threat to the surviving Umbrella Academy members. The new cast is packed with up-and-coming stars as well as actors that fans will surely recognize.

Julian Richings As Chad Rodo

Julian Richings in Man of Steel, Percy Jackson, and Supernatural

British actor Julian Richings has been a notable character actor for decades, starring in some of Hollywood's biggest hits. In 2010, Richings played the role of Charon, the Ferryman of the Underworld, in Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Acting alongside Henry Cavill in Man of Steel, Richings portrayed Lor-Em, the last leader of Krypton before the planet imploded.

Richings is perhaps best known for playing Death, one of the greatest side characters in Supernatural, and the most powerful of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Though no information is available for his character, Chad Rodo, the actor's skillful portrayal of dark macabre characters in the past might indicate the nature of his role in The Umbrella Academy.

Javon Walton As Stan

Javon Wanna Walton in Addams Family 2, Euphoria, and Utopia

Aside from the rumor that his Umbrella Academy character's name is "Stan", nothing is known about Javon Walton's role in the new season. However, if the comradery shown between his character and Klaus in the trailer is any indication, Stan will become an ally and possible asset to the original Hargreeves siblings.

Despite being a secondary character, Walton held his own as Ashtray in the teen drama, Euphoria, becoming an unexpected fan favorite along with his on-screen older brother, Fezco. The young actor played Grant in the adaptation of the Gillian Flynn sci-fi novel, Utopia, and was later cast as the voice of Pugsley Addams in The Addams Family 2.

Justin Cornwell As Marcus (Number One)

Cast as Marcus, Justin Cornwell is Luther’s counterpart, taking on the role of Number One in The Sparrow Academy. With a similar ability of super strength, it stands to reason that each Sparrow may be the mirror of an Umbrella Academy member. Breaking into the industry in 2017, Justin Cornwell landed the lead as Detective Kyle Craig opposite Bill Paxton in Training Day, the CBS adaptation of the popular film of the same name.

Cornwell went on to play Terrence Shye, the romantic interest to the character Fauna in I Am The Night, the limited series which explored the infamous murder of The Black Dahlia. Cornwell is set to star in the upcoming action thriller Havoc with heavy hitter Tom Hardy (Venom) and Timothy Olyphant (The Book of Boba Fett).

Britne Oldford As Fei (Number Three)

Playing the role of Fei (Number Three), Britne Oldford’s Umbrella Academy character sports a pair of dark sunglasses which cover a series of scars, likely from the murder of crows she has the power to summon. The Canadian actor is no stranger to supernatural roles, starring as Alma Walker in American Horror Story: Asylum, which many still regard as the best season of the series.

Fans may also recognize Oldford as Shawna Baez, or "Peek-a-Boo", the metahuman in The Flash who faced off against the lead hero of The CW series on multiple occasions. Most recently, Oldford starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy as the memorable character, Missy, a Barista NPC with dreams of making a difference outside of her trademark coffee.

Jake Epstein As Alphonso (Number Four)

Jake Epstein in Degrassi, Umbrella Academy, and Designated Survivor

Based on his Umbrella Academy character's appearance alone, fans may not recognize the actor as Jake Epstein. Cast as Alphonso (Number Four), Epstein plays one of the most interesting new characters who utilizes his power of empathetic masochism to injure his enemies. In simpler terms, Alphonso is essentially a human voodoo doll whose injuries are reflected in his opponents.

Degrassi: The Next Generation fans will recognize Epstein as Craig Manning who starred in the popular Canadian high school drama for seven years before graduating onto other projects. Epstein also starred in Designated Survivor as FBI agent Chuck Russink who used his tech expertise to investigate the conspiracy. Most recently, Epstein has joined the cast of The CW's The Hardy Boys playing Mr. Munder, a teacher at the school that Frank and Joe Hardy attend.

Genesis Rodriguez As Sloane (Number Five)

The Sparrow Academy's Number Five, better known as Sloane, is portrayed by actor Genesis Rodriguez. Sloane's powers have recently been revealed to be gravity manipulation but the hidden details that The Umbrella Academy created in each character poster led many to initially believe that the circles pictured around Sloane's hands indicated a similar power to Viktor's.

In 2014 the prolific telenovela star was cast as Ally in Kevin Smith's horror-comedy, Tusk, with Justin Long and Haley Joel Osment. Later that same year, Rodriguez portrayed the bubbly chemical engineering student Honey Lemon in Disney's Big Hero 6 who fights alongside Hiro and the rest of the team to protect San Fransokyo.

Cazzie David As Jayme (Number Six)

Writer and actress Cazzie David plays the loner of the Sparrows, Jayme (Number Six), and has been described as having a fear-inducing snarl and hallucinogenic venom that she spits at her enemies. Daughter of famed actor Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Cazzie made a name for herself in 2017 with her web series, Eighty-Sixed, in which she also starred.

David's 2020 New York Times Bestseller, No One Asked For This: Essays, explored social anxiety, media, and the pitfalls of relationships through dark humor that is evident in each of her on-screen roles. With a limited filmography, fans are eager to see how David will fare in her first major television role as the mysterious Jayme Hargreeves.
