The Umbrella Academy follows the story of seven kids with special superpowers who were adopted and trained to be superheroes. They go through a lot as a family, from stopping the apocalypse twice to changing history. The Hargreeves siblings are one of the most dysfunctional families on television, and each of them has their own quirks and issues that make them both frustrating and lovable, and Luther is no exception. Season two sees him thrown into the 1960s, still in love with Allison and working for Jack Ruby.

Also known as Number One, Luther Hargreeves is turned into a half-gorilla half-human after his father's experiments, which gives him super strength. He's usually the good guy and the hero of the family, but sometimes, we get to see Luther's dark side, too.

Best: When He Seeks Out Vanya

All of the siblings have something against Vanya because her powers basically caused the apocalypse and she almost killed Allison. But once they are all transported to different points of the 1960s, their opinions change as time passes. Vanya has amnesia and she can't remember who her family is, let alone the fact she destroyed the earth. This is one of his best moments as a brother because he finally sees that Vanya never intentionally tried to hurt them, and he tries to make amends.

Worst: How He Acted Around Five

When Five eventually shows up to find the others, Luther is less than thrilled, which is understandable, since Five only shows his face when he needs something or if the world is about to end and he needs their help. Luther was the worst in this scene because he just gave up and told Five that there was no point, and when one of your siblings seeks you out from another time to tell you that you cause the apocalypse again, it's probably not the best way to go about things.

Best: Standing Up To His Father

Luther, like the others, has a complicated relationship with his father, who sent him to the moon and turned him into a hybrid gorilla. In season two, he actually gets to stand up to him for a change, something which he misses out on because his father dies. Well, while the Hargreeves dinner is a colossal disaster, at least he gets to stand up to his father in some way. This is one of his best moments because he finally gets to feel like he got closure for all the things his father did to him.

Worst: Kissing Allison

Allison and Luther's weird relationship is something that carries into season two, and while the whole episode of events that didn't actually end up happening was sweet, it was a little strange because Luther and Allison are basically brother and sister. In the time they are apart, Allison ends up marrying Ray Chestnut in season two, which of course upsets Luther. The kissing scene is one of Luther's worst moments because it was pretty weird, and it never even happened.

Saying that, for all of season one, Five is in love with a mannequin and Vanya dates a serial killer, so it could be worse.

Best: Meeting Ray

Since Luther was dropped into the '60s still in love with Allison and thinking that he had a chance with her as no time had really passed for them, his reaction to meeting Allison's husband is fantastic. Once Ray invites him into their home, he just sits there and eats the chocolates that he bought for her and pretends to take the news of their marriage well. It's one of his highlights, as his reaction is kind of adorable since he tries his best to be happy for her engagement.

Worst: The Hargreeves Family Dinner

The scene where all of the siblings meet with their father from the past is one of the best moments of the show so far. Each sibling has their own grudge against Reginald Hargreeves, as he wasn't exactly the best father in the world. At their family meeting, Luther yells at him and tears his shirt open, which was both unexpected and hilarious. Luther displays his good side and his darker side in this scene, and it's great to see him go a little crazy.

Best: When He Finally Sees Allison Again

While they don't work out romantically, Allison and Luther do care about each other a lot, and it shows when they finally meet again in season two and get lunch together. They're a chaotic match, but they talk about how much they've changed, good and bad. It's a really sweet moment and the two characters deserved it. The scene really shows Luther's sensitivity when it comes to Allison, and how he just acts differently around her. It's a good different which would be great to see more of.

Worst: Öga For Öga

One of the subplots of season two is the ongoing battle between the siblings are the Swedes, a group of 3 Swedish assassins who also happen to be brothers. In true Umbrella Academy fashion, the subplot is quite bizarre.

When Diego and Luther find Öga for Ögo written on the walls in blood, they decide to take matters into their own hands and call and threaten an innocent woman called Olga Foroga, while the message means an eye for an eye. It's not one of his best moments, that's for sure because he could have used some common sense and just asked Five first.

Best: Helping Five Fight Himself

Luther helps Five a lot in season two, while the others are subsequently dealing with their own issues. Five has to battle himself in order to take his briefcase and use it to get back to 2019. Naturally, chaos ensues but at least Luther is there to help Five when he needs him. It's certainly the opposite of how he was acting toward him at the start of the series. This is again one of his best scenes as a brother because he finally let's go 0f his feelings towards Five being absent for so long and focuses on helping him instead.

Worst: Locking Up Vanya When She Hurt Allison

One of Luther's worst moments was when he decided it was best to lock Vanya up after she nearly killed Allison. It sounds like he did the right thing but in reality, his actions only made her more stressed out, because she didn't mean to hurt Allison and she also didn't know how to control her powers at the time. The decision to lock her away was a bad one and is one of his worst moments because he set off a chain of events that could have been prevented.
