Netflix's new movie The Stranger is an Australian true-crime thriller about an abduction case that has been unsolved for eight years. Mark, an undercover cop, is tasked with befriending Henry, a murder suspect, to earn his trust and get a confession out of him.

The film is filled with many thrilling yet disturbing bits of dialogue, with a cast of actors who convey each line with a sense of urgency. The officers are given the utmost important job to create a friendship that must be built on trust otherwise the case falls apart.

Mark emphasizes clearing the mind and letting go of anything negative through breathing. When a person breathes in, they let in clean clear air but when they breathe out, they let go of the things that bother them such as stress, anxiety or anger.

Throughout the film, the actors' breathing are heightened in volume to create a new meaning of living. Mark's career as a cop requires him to keep his business and personal life separate, but sometimes that's difficult to do. This abduction case took much of his time and mentality with it, so he found his own way to relax: breathing.

Paul offers Henry a job after meeting him just minutes prior. He was desperate for a job, given his criminal record, so he quickly accepted as long as it has nothing to do with violence.

With Henry's past of assault charges, he steers clear of any job that ensues violence.

He makes it very obvious to Mark and Paul that he's willing to do anything but that. Once he's assured there's no violence involved, he puts 100% of himself into the job, especially if it helps in his disappearance.

Ikin emotionally reflects on the basic facts of the case. The officers working the case are all on edge given that it's been eight years since the boy was abducted. They have a suspect in mind but cannot seem to find any evidence tying him to the crime.

This psychological thriller movie keeps the viewer unsatisfied until the abductor is captured. Ikin constantly reminds himself that a boy is missing. Years have passed, yet they haven't been able to catch anyone. He's worried that they'll never figure it out and is letting his emotions get the best of him.

Henry is stressed about needing to purchase clothes for the new job. Mark quickly eases his nerves by giving him money and reassuring him that he'll protect him. Although they've only known each other for a short time, Henry begins to feel slightly more comfortable with him.

Mark is setting the stage to create a closer relationship with Henry, earning his trust. All Mark wants to do is get closure for the family even if it takes him months. His job is to get close, get the confession and help with the arrest. At this moment, that takes all his focus.

Henry and Mark are sitting on the beach taking a break before they get to work. Henry expresses his feelings of freedom since he's one step closer to running away from all his problems.

Mark is giving Henry the chance of a lifetime. Even though he has a criminal past, he wants to put that all behind him and move on. Henry is basically free, but he doesn't feel that way until he can completely disappear and start over.

Mark and his son were playing hide and seek after his son begged him to. As a loving father, he gave in even though he was tired from work. After looking for him in the house for a few minutes, he started to grow angry thinking that he must have gone outside. Turns out Mark was right, his son was outside even after knowingh they had a rule for him to never go outside.

The viewers are quick to realize that they have a wonderful father-and-son relationship. Although Mark is away most of the time, they still spend a lot of time together. He is very protective of his son and the case he is working on is one of his worst fears. He gets angry because he wants to protect his son at all costs.

Rylett speaks to her associate, Ikin, about the abduction case. While going over the case details, she realizes they don't have any evidence to lock him up even though she knows wholeheartedly that he's guilty. At the time of the investigation, he was compliant with the team, which meant they didn't need to look into him further.

She's filled with anger and annoyance at the fact that they can't catch him. All theories point to him being the main suspect, but there's just no proof. Her emotions take over this case causing it to be even more stressful than it typically would be. When emotions coincide with work, the more difficult it is to keep on task.

Henry has a panic attack while in the bathroom on the airplane. Although the audience doesn't see it, something is definitely going wrong since he's been in there for quite some time. There's tension between the officers because they need to act fast if it doesn't go as planned. Henry runs out of the bathroom quickly to warn Mark, who calms him down.

The film portrays times of anxiety with difficulty breathing. When Henry began getting anxious about what's to come, he lets Mark know he can't breathe. The officers are so close to arresting him and hopefully locking him up for good, creating anticipation for the viewer.

"I'm The Black Sheep Of The Family, Mate."

Henry begins opening up to Mark about his life and what he has gone through. His family no longer speaks to him because he doesn't belong with them. They don't count him as one of their own, making him a pariah.

A black sheep is a member of the family that is typically different from the rest. He feels that he has no family and doesn't belong anywhere. His best foot forward would be to disappear and get a new identity, which is exactly what he believes Mark is helping him with. There is nothing tying him down anywhere. He's a person on the loose, only looking out for his own good.

After hearing Henry's confession, the police officers were in shock. They were happy to have caught him, but the truth is difficult to hear. Ikin recalls the years they spent looking for him, realizing it was all a waste of time.

Sometimes learning the truth is more difficult than being in the unknown. There is closure with the truth out, but it feels as if the family has lost their son all over again. The eight years it took to close the case and find the boy, left the family in even more heartbreak.
