After five weeks of episodes, a fan-favorite character from The Santa Clause finally made an appearance in the new Disney+ series. Beloved Bernard the Elf pays a surprise visit to Scott Calvin, who has spent the better part of the year in Chicago with his family. With Simon ruining Christmas at the North Pole, Bernard takes Scott on a trip through the "Yule-verse" to meet the Santas that have come before him.

While Bernard might not be the main character in Disney+'s new The Santa Clauses, he did play a pivotal role in the penultimate episode and helped set the course for some major character development for the core cast. Speaking of the core cast, they've been on a roller coaster ride, teetering between naughty and nice for the last five episodes. With only one episode left, its safe to say that The Santa Clause's naughty or nice list is basically finalized, leaving one technology-savvy human on the naughty list while some new fan-favorite children top the nice list.

8 Simon

The Santa Clauses Cast Simon Choksi Kal Penn

A new face to The Santa Clause universe, Simon is the owner of the failing EverythingNow delivery company and the person who gets tapped to be the next Santa. Though he shares Santa's same passion for giving people what they want when they want it, he has a much different approach to getting the job done.

Unlike most Santas, Simon refuses to wear the suit, doesn't treat the elves with respect, and doesn't care to understand how things have worked for centuries at the North Pole. On top of that, he's a workaholic who fails to be there emotionally for his daughter, Grace.

7 Betty

Betty from The Santa Clauses

It's only fair a new elf stepped up into the head role with Bernard's departure, and that elf happens to be Betty. No-nonsense like Bernard, Betty rules with an iron, compassionate fist and puts her job first. She's definitely a boss not everyone would want to have.

However, Betty has a penchant for thinking she knows best, which is why she spearheads the search for Santa Scott's replacement. Unfortunately, she doesn't choose wisely and is now dealing with the aftermath of her decisions. Had she treated Santa Scott with the same compassion she treats the elves, she might have found herself in a better situation.

6 Scott

Scott in The Santa Clauses

As the heart of The Santa Clause universe, Scott's character arc for The Santa Clauses feels out of character at times. While he wasn't always thrilled to be Santa, he grew into the role, becoming one of the best Santas of all time. This is why his plans for retirement come as such a surprise to the elves and to the audiences watching.

Scott gives in to his negativity too much over the course of the series, becoming a shell of the man everyone knew and loved. Not only does he not consider the consequences of retiring, but he also doesn't really listen to his children's concerns about leaving the North Pole. Nor does he bother to check in on things when he very much could have.

5 Carol Mrs. Clause in The Santa Clauses episode 2

Carol was one of the best versions of Mrs. Claus when she stepped into the role in The Santa Clause 2; however, she's lost a lot of her appeal in The Santa Clauses. Instead of staying true to her teaching passions and teaching the elves, she's fallen into a shell of a woman and a very stereotypical Mrs. Claus role.

This is why she jumps at the opportunity to return to the real world when Scott announces her retirement. Carol is neither good nor bad in The Santa Clauses; she's merely there. Though, fans did get to see a version of the old Carol in the penultimate episode when she agreed to return to the North Pole to save Christmas.

4 Cal

Cal post-driving in The Santa Clauses episode 2

Born at the end of The Santa Clause 3, Cal is Scott's second child but first with Carol. Now a teenager, Cal has spent his entire life in the North Pole surrounded be elves. He's a bit dimwitted a times but has an immense interest in the human world.

Unlike most teenage boy characters, Cal is never rude or mean. He loves his sister and isn't often seen fighting with her. He also seems to care about the elves and their family. Though it's not clear yet, Cal definitely seems to be the rightful heir of the Santa throne when Scott properly retires.

3 Noel

Noel from The Santa Clauses

Noel is another new elf who has wormed his way into the hearts of fans. Santa's right-hand man he's incredibly upbeat and good at his job of being there for Santa. So much so that he feels lost when Santa Scott retires and ends up following him down to Earth.

While Noel means well, he does accidentally abandon his wife and his co-workers at the North Pole to visit Santa Scott. He also has a habit of venting about his own problems instead of listening to those around him.

2 Grace

Grace from The Santa Clauses

Grace is sweet as candy despite losing her mom at a young age and being raised by her well-meaning but workaholic father. She's a true believer in all things Christmas and is overjoyed that her dad gets to be the new Santa.

Her innocence and belief in the true meaning of Christmas make her a major asset to Scott's mission of saving Christmas. Not only that, but she's extremely kind and friendly to the elves seeing them as friends instead of workers to exploit like her father.

1 Sandra

Sandra from The Santa Clauses

Sandra is the youngest child of Santa Scott and his only daughter. Like her brother, she has grown up exclusively in the North Pole though she doesn't share his affinity for the human world. Sandra likes her life in the North Pole and doesn't want to leave it.

Unlike her parents and brother, who have grown tired of their sheltered life, Sandra has only just begun exploring what the North Pole has to offer. She's friendly with everyone, elves, animals, and La Befana, the Christmas witch, included. She's also the first to show magical abilities like the powers her father has. Though, she doesn't have the biggest role in the series; it's clear that Sandra is the most kind-hearted of the Calvin-Clauses.
