The Romanoffs Episode Details & Images

In anticipation of the series premiere, Amazon has released a full episodic breakdown of The Romanoffs season 1, as well as a handful of images from the series. The build-up toward Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men follow-up has been moving along at a surprising pace. Not only is the series set to premiere is just over a month’s time, but a pair of teaser trailers have already been released, teasing the anthology series’ impressive cast and its globe-spanning filming locations.

Weiner was notoriously protective over information regarding the episodic plot lines of his ‘60s-set masterpiece, and it's no surprise to learn he's taking a similar approach here, despite having moved to the world of streaming services. That approach brings some admittedly basic episode details, as well as new images, introducing the characters played by the likes of Aaron Eckhart, Kerry Bishé, Noah Wyle, and Corey Stoll. They’re not exactly spoiler-filled (thankfully), but they do offer some idea of what viewers can expect when the series hits Amazon Prime Video in October.

As reported by Variety, Amazon shared details on all eight episodes of the first season, including light plot details, cast, and air date. Interestingly enough, The Romanoffs won’t be a typical binge-watch, but will instead whet viewers’ appetites with two episodes premiering on October 12, followed by weekly installments through November 23. ‘The Violet Hour’ (October 12): Set in Paris, an ancestral home holds the key to a family’s future. Starring Aaron Eckhart and Marthe Keller (below), Inès Melab and Louise Bourgoin.

‘The Royal We’ (October 12): With their marriage in a rut, a couple finds their own temptations. Starring Corey Stoll and Janet Montgomery, along with Kerry Bishé and Noah Wyle.

‘House of Special Purpose’ (Friday, Oct. 19) — A movie star and a director go head to head in a battle over what is real. (Cast: Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Huppert, Jack Huston, Mike Doyle and Paul Reiser)

‘Expectation’ (Friday, Oct. 26) — Over a single day in New York City, a woman is confronted with every lie she ever told. (Cast: Amanda Peet, John Slattery, Emily Rudd, Jon Tenney, Mary Kay Place, and Michael O’Neill)

‘Bright and High Circle’ (Friday, Nov. 2) — A trusted friend under suspicion tests the loyalties of a tightly knit community. (Cast: Diane Lane, Ron Livingston, Andrew Rannells, Cara Buono and Nicole Ari Parker)

‘Panorama’ (Friday, Nov. 9) — In Mexico City, an idealistic reporter falls in love with his mysterious subject. (Cast: Juan Pablo Castañeda, Radha Mitchell and Griffin Dunne)

‘End of the Line’ (Friday, Nov. 16) — On a trip abroad to pursue their legacy, a couple faces destruction. (Cast: Kathryn Hahn, Jay R. Ferguson, Annet Mahendru and Clea Duvall)

‘The One That Holds Everything’ (Friday, Nov. 23) — In a story that circles the globe, a man tries to escape a family curse. (Cast: Hugh Skinner, Adèle Anderson, Hera Hilmar, Ben Miles and JJ Feild)

These breakdowns are very similar to some of the synopses viewers would get for upcoming Mad Men episodes, like the one for season 7’s ‘The Milk & Honey Route,’ which read: “Don has trouble sleeping; Pete is blindsided by a friend; Henry arranges a family reunion.” Those were of course enhanced by the remarkably vague trailers that removed every ounce of context so that viewers were left with a random assortment of images and half-spoken dialogue to go on.

In light of what’s been offered so far, in addition to the impressive cast, these vague breakdowns aren’t going to do much to dampen the anticipation for this new series.
