With Amazon's head already discussing the release date for The Rings of Power's season 2, it seems as though the latest addition to the Lord of the Rings franchise is here to stay. Many fans admittedly criticized the show for its slow pacing and interpretation of Tolkien's lore, but the last few episodes have proven that The Rings of Power might be more exciting than anybody expected.

Like any good story, The Rings of Power still has several plot points that need to be resolved in the finale, including The Stranger's identity and Sauron's potential emergence. With just one more episode left until season 1's conclusion, there's still plenty of room for twists and surprises, which is keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

Will Miriel Regain Her Sight?

In the fallout of Adar's attack on the Southlands, Numenorian Queen Miriel revealed that she'd lost her sight and was unable to see anything but darkness. Though she opted to keep her injury secret from her people, it's unlikely that she'd be able to do this forever.

Little is already known about Miriel from Tolkien's existing works, so it's possible that this affliction could really be permanent. It would certainly put the Numenorian's at a disadvantage in any coming conflicts, but her battle with sight loss could be an interesting route for the character.

Will Galadriel Reunite With The Elves?

The first episode of The Rings of Power dealt heavily with the complex relationship between Galadriel and the rest of her elven kind, including the famous Elrond. Now that she's back in Middle-Earth, it seems likely that the season finale will see Galadriel return to her homeland, but it's unclear how her return will be received.

Galadriel is one of the few characters from The Rings of Power that audiences will recognize from the Lord of the Rings timeline, but that doesn't mean there aren't still surprises in store for the powerful elf. The Rings of Power has made several changes from canon, and Galadriel's relationship with the elves could easily be the next.

When Will The Rings Appear?

It seems like an obvious question considering The Rings of Power's title, but the show has managed to steer clear away from the titular objects up to this point. It's possible that audiences won't actually get to see the creation of the Rings themselves until next season, but it's a moment that many fans are eagerly anticipating.

The inclusion of characters such as Celebrimbor and Elrond immediately confirmed that The Rings of Power would be dealing with the creation of the Rings, but the story has been too focused on other aspects to fully explore this yet. Perhaps, the finale will see this particular narrative come into play.

Will Sauron Appear As Annatar?

Long-time fans of Tolkien's works will know that Sauron was actually involved in the creation of the Rings of Power, though he obviously wouldn't be able to do this under his true identity. Therefore, he disgusted himself as a trustworthy elf named Annatar, and worked with Celebrimbor to create the powerful weapons.

There is so much to Sauron's story that isn't discussed in the Lord of the Rings movies, so many audiences will be unfamiliar with the character of Annatar. It would be difficult to keep his true identity secret for a long time, but it could still make for a great reveal.

Will Sauron's Plan Succeed?

For the majority of the show, Adar has been the most important and present villain that posed a serious threat to Middle-Earth. But following his invasion of the Southlands and transformation of the city into Mordor, it seems that the path is set for Sauron to make his long-awaited return.

Adar is obviously Sauron's servant, so it's safe to assume that he's been the one pulling the strings this whole time. He clearly has a plan for Middle-Earth, and his creation of Mordor proves that things are working so far. But it is unclear if the whole plan will fully succeed.

Will Durin Manage To Save The Elves?

Durin IV in Rings of Power

Prince Durin's complex relationship with his father has been one of The Rings of Power's most intriguing subplots to far, reaching an explosive boiling point in the last episode after the pair clashed after discussing how the dwarves can help Elrond and his people.

Lord of the Rings lore already states that he will rule over the dwarves for some time, so Durin will at least survive in Rings of Power until the end of the season. But the Balrog reveal at the end of the last episode doesn't seem positive for Durin's future.

Where Will The Southlanders Move?

With the shocking reveal that The Southlands were actually destined to become Mordor, it seems like the humans that lived there have suddenly found themselves without somewhere to live. Although many humans died at the hands of the orcs, there are still plenty that need somewhere to live.

The destruction of The Southlands also means that Halbrand has nowhere to rule over, seemingly ending his reign as the destined leader of his people. Many audiences are hoping that Numenor will be able to offer aid to the Southlanders and prevent them from growing extinct.

Who Is The Stranger?

The true identity of Daniel Weyman's character is yet to be confirmed, with most audiences simply referring to him as The Stranger. The show's reluctance to reveal his real name seems to suggest that The Stranger is somebody important in the history of Middle-Earth, potentially even somebody that audiences will recognize from Jackson's original trilogy.

There are plenty of names floating around right now about The Stranger's true identity, with some Tolkien fans suggesting that it could even be a fan-favorite like Gandalf, the famous wizard that was played by Sir Ian McKellen in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Where Is Sauron?

Most audiences will know Sauran as the major villain of Lord of the Rings, but the character actually has a much more complex and intricate history than most are aware of. And for that reason, many fans believe that the true identity of Sauron is currently being kept a secret.

Even characters such as Adar and Halbrand have been suspected of being Sauron in disguise, which would certainly make for a huge plot twist. Halbrand in particular is one of The Rings of Power's most likable characters, so revealing him to be Sauron would be a bold surprise.

Are The Numenorians Safe?

It's easy to look to Tolkien's existing works for answers to these questions, but The Rings of Power has proven several times that it's willing to include original ideas and characters to keep even the most dedicated fans on their toes. With that in mind, audiences should definitely be worried about the fate of Numenor.

Sauron certainly doesn't seem like the kind of person who would easily forgive Numenor for launching an attack on his army, even if things eventually worked out in his favor. If they're not careful, the Numenorians could easily find themselves the next target of Sauron's conquest.
