Vicki Gunvalson is one of the longest-running housewives in Real Housewives history. With The Real Housewives of Orange County being the first city in the franchise, this makes Vicki one of the first housewives. However, after 13 seasons on the show (and one season as a "friend"), it was time for Vicki's departure. She did what she could for the series and it was time for her and Bravo to part ways.
Over Vicki's time on TV, she's had some of the most iconic and controversial moments on Bravo. The one-liners, the contradictions, the "whooping it up" moments, no one can replace the one and only Vicki Gunvalson. Nor can they erase these embarrassing moments.
Vicki Needed More Than A "Family Van!"
In the first season of RHOC (before Vicki got the ax), one of Vicki's first freakouts was when a driving service sent a family van to pick up Vicki and her five family members for a two-week cruise. The van was far too small for all of them and their luggage, but they didn't have enough time to have a new car come and pick them up.
They had no choice but to make it work. Vicki wasn't going to let this slide. She called the service and yelled at them for sending a "family van" to pick up six people. It was a rough start to a family vacation.
She Dated The Ultimate Con-Man
In season nine, Vicki was excited to share the news: she was a taken woman and in love with a man named Brooks. Brooks was more reserved than Vicki but seemed to be a good match for her. As time went on, however, things slowly stopped making sense. Not only did their relationship make Vicki look like a sugar mama but it made her look like a liar.
Just as her friends slowly turned on Brooks, it was revealed that Brooks was suffering from cancer. It took months of investigating and questioning but the truth slowly came to light: Brooks did not have cancer and lied about the whole thing. What's worse is that it seems like Vicki was in on the lie...
She Compared Herself To Jesus
What do Vicki and Jesus have in common? Absolutely nothing, but leave it to Vicki to find one comparable moment. Just as Jesus was being nailed to the cross, Vicki too felt like she was being judged for being nothing but a good person.
At Tamra's baptism, rumors surrounding Brooks' cancer began to scatter but that wasn't the breaking point. After Vicki's sister-in-law made a jab at Shannon Beador regarding her husband's affair, Shannon went after Vicki for telling everyone about her misfortune. Vicki didn't think she did anything wrong and said. "I’m being nailed to the cross like Jesus was and he did nothing wrong. He’s Jesus Christ and he did nothing wrong! That’s how I feel." As one can imagine, she was roasted for such a line.
Someone Grab This Woman A Diaper
If you pee your pants on national television, that's going to haunt you for the rest of your life. And that's exactly what happened to Vicki.
While she was in Mexico with the girls, Vicki laughed so hard that she wet her pants. She quickly got up to go to the restroom but it was too late. Her pants and the spot where she was sitting was soaked wet.
Brooks > Brianna
As if Vicki's relationship with Brooks wasn't bad enough, Vicki shockingly chose Broks over her only daughter Briana. Vicki and Briana were incredibly close; so close that Vicki bawled her eyes out on camera when Briana and her family moved for her husband's job.
At the reunion, Briana told Andy and co. just how nasty Brooks was. Not only did Brooks hit on Briana at a birthday party but he encouraged Briana's husband to hit Briana when she was out of line... Worse of all, Vicki didn't believe her daughter or son-in-law. She believed Brooks. That has to haunt her to this day.
Those Awful Comments On Same-Sex Relationships
During Vicki's last season on RHOC, she made some controversial comments regarding her friends kissing each other on-screen. In one scene, Braunwyn and Tamra locked lips while celebrating Shannon Beador's birthday. The kiss was harmless, consensual, and a very small moment on TV. Vicki, however, found the kiss to be inappropriate.
She told the women to "do it off-camera" (why would two women kissing need to be done off-camera, Vicki?). At the reunion, she said, “Fifteen years [ago], I started this show. We don’t do that. Turn it down, Braunwyn. Turn it down!”. It was at that point that Vicki's time on the show was done.
Vicki's Face Became A Meme
Vicki went out with a bang during her last reunion. She got so upset at the women going against her that she stormed off stage. When the cameras followed her into her dressing room, Vicki cursed at them and chased them through the door.
The image of an angry Vicki chasing away the camera crew was reminiscent of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
We Can Never Not See Miss Piggy
Back when Gretchen was a housewife, her relationship with Slade was always the topic of conversation. The two seemed to be in their own world and ignored the nasty remarks made by her castmates (after all, this wasn't Slade's first time as a boyfriend on RHOC).
But after Slade shot his shot at standup comedy, he made a cruel joke about Vicki looking like Miss Piggy. And sadly for Vicki, the nickname stuck. Memes and Gifs comparing Vicki to Miss Piggy were soon flooding the Internet.
Fill Up That Love Tank
When viewers were first introduced to Vicki, she was married to an amazing man named Don. Sadly, their relationship appeared to be in ruins. Vicki compared their marriage to a gas tank, which she renamed a "love tank."
As she and Don fell apart, she claimed her love tank was empty over and over again. When she and Don eventually got divorced, she went on a mission to fill her love tank back up again. The phrase "love tank" was used so much that she even used it as her tagline.
Those Late Mexican Nights
Things always get messy when the women of Orange County drink. And when the Tres Amigas (Vicki, Tamra, and Shannon) go to Mexico, the mess is tenfold. It's as if they lose all their morals and inhibitions.
In one scene, Shannon welcomed Vicki and Tamra at the airport in Mexico with tequila and sombreros. After one shot, they accidentally slipped, broke the shot glasses, and fell to the floor. That is a moment neither of them can ever live down.
