Nick is one of the characters that can either be saved or killed in The Quarry, though it may be more challenging to do the former. Nick may actually be the character that is hardest to keep alive throughout The Quarry, as misfortune seems to surround his fate and others. In several instances, the decisions that end in saving Nick, outlined below, will result in the death of another character. For those who are looking to save everyone in The Quarry, a different set of choices regarding Nick's fate must be made to ensure the survival of all characters. Ensuring Nick's survival alone, however, can be done with the decisions in the chapters mentioned below.
There are also certain events that are tied to Nick's part of The Quarry that are unavoidable no matter what decisions are made prior, such as getting bitten by the werewolf in Chapter 3. Another unavoidable outcome is Nick eventually turning into a werewolf, as well as getting thrown into the pool, and attacking Abigail. Additionally, while some decisions appear as if they will lead to Nick's death, Nick has more survivability after he turns.
Alternatively, those who are looking to make everyone in The Quarry die can utilize Nick's curse to cause his own demise, as well as Jacob's if he survives his encounter in Chapter 4. The four chapters that have QTEs where Nick's future is determined are Chapters 3, 6, 8, and 10, though not every decision made in these chapters will cause Nick to die either. In fact, there are only a couple of decisions in some of these chapters that will result in Nick's death.
How To Save Nick In The Quarry
- Chapter 3: After Nick is bitten by the werewolf and players are given control over Abigail, choose to Help Nick. Abigail will lure the beast away, and she can avoid getting bitten as well by not getting caught and succeeding with the Hold Breath option. Later, Ryan will search for Nick as he is getting dragged away by hunters. Aim and Shoot above Ryan with the shotgun, and the hunter will run away.
- Chapter 6: One of the worst ways characters can die in The Quarry can be caused by Nick in Chapter 6. Once player control over Abigail is given again and she returns to Nick, he'll throw her across the room. Abigail has the chance to shoot Nick, and she has to. This won't kill Nick, but not shot shooting him will result in Abigail becoming decapitated.
- Chapter 8: In Chapter 8, make sure Ryan interrupts Laura shooting the werewolf in a cage, as it is really Nick.
- Chapter 10: Kill the werewolf named Caleb to free Nick of his curse in Chapter 10, saving his life.
How To Kill Nick In The Quarry
The easiest way to kill Nick is by letting Laura shoot him in Chapter 8. By not intervening, players can also use this death to help them kill everyone in The Quarry. Though misfortune surrounds Nick in The Quarry, his life arguably has more impact on the other eight characters that any other survivor.
